Did you know that approximately 21,000 Chicago Public School students were identified as homeless during the 2015-2016 academic school year? Chicago HOPES for Kids empowers these homeless students to succeed academically. With the goal of sustainability, Chicago HOPES for Kids collaborates with schools, shelters and communities to provide after school support for students living in homeless shelters throughout Chicago. Our after-school program is an opportunity to provide academic support, and build relationships with children K-5 who are experiencing homelessness. As an after-school volunteer you will empower students through learning, and have fun along the way! Volunteers assist in facilitating our easy-to-follow curriculum . The curriculum includes: Literacy support Active Play Enrichment activity (a read aloud, paired with a corresponding activity) Volunteers will work with 1 to 3 children at a time depending on the number of students at the site.
