  • Beyond the cremonial unveiling of a statue of Paul Laurence Dunbar, what is going on with the future educational curriculum of the underserved, disadvantaged predominantly AFRICAN-AMERICAN students who attend this revitalized urban high school campus in the historic Bronzeville community?

  • Certainly there must be some innovative writers workshops featuring the literary contributions of writers like Paul Lawrence Dunbar and other literary giants of the Black Cultural Renaissance that took place in Bronzeville! :-)

City of Chicago Building Inspectors Not Doing Their Job.

I reported over a month ago a two-building whereas mexicans had been rehabbing this two -flat without a building permit and without a dumpster. I reported over a month ago a two-building whereas mexicans had been rehabbing this two -flat without a building permit and without a dumpster. They were throwing the drywall, the old electric box and ports and old plumming into the back yard and the debris from the dust and pieces of drywall and garbage is flying all over the neighborhood and into my own yard. I put this complaint into the 311 system as an emergency and spoke on the telephone with an Inspector within the building department, to the current date July 15, 2014 no inspector, no violation given for rehabbing w/o permit. The new owner of this building obvious has ties with the building inspector because I even report this to Alderman Michelle Harris but of course we dont expect any results from her office, which is a joke to the south side 8 ward. This is why neighborhoods and blocks within the communities go down in property value. She and the city allows these people to come in and work without permits and they destroy these homes from which they are not licensed contracted and make a mess of the valued properties in the black neighborhoods. This whole City of Chicago Building department should be shut down. This is why those firefighters were killed in 2010 because the building should have been torn down and the inspectors of course took money under the table and didnt do their jobs in inspecting that building, now those men lives have been destroyed because of their negligence and "Don't give a dam attitudes". There is about to be a media report on this building and we need the neighborhood support because if you bought a house or building, they would shut you down if you didn't have a permit to add a deck, enhance your property and will shut you down. Therefore we expect the same from those who do not live in the neighborhood and are buying these properties to fall under the same rules and guidelines.

  • You are incorrectly assuming that because the activity is ongoing, building inspectors have not visited.

The City takes this very seriously because they/we aren't getting paid. My experience is that this stuff is looked in to with 24 hours.

It's cheaper to pay a fine than to pay an architect/engineer. (BTW - People of all ethnicities know this fact.). If it really bothers you, keep calling and putting in new tickets with the building department. If they visit enough, it will stop.

Wow..there are some ignorant uneducated people in the neighborhood such as Frank also known as Joel V. If you are going to leave a nasty comment, at least go get your GED first so you can learn how to spell...DUMB RAT!!!! LMAO
