Ald Joe Moreno, crook or dummy?

sound off here and be sure to vote Joe out on Feb 24

  • Joe Kopera Logan Square resident since 1961 (54 years in Jan)

Nothing like going to the debate and having one of the alderman's thugs come up to you, shake you hand and then he tells you "THERE WILL BE REPERCUSSIONS" just because you are wearing a sticker for one of the challengers. I don't take kindly to threats.

  • Moreno lost my vote forever when he spoke out against the teachers strike. He seems like a shady guy all around. I do like his ideas for a dedicated bike lane on Milwaukee, but that's not enough to sway me, not to shake the feeling that he's smarmy. I hope both of them are forced into a runoff and lose.

Elise Doody Jones for 32nd Ward

According to @Aldertrack, Elise Doody Jones is running against Scott Waguespack

https://twitter.com/Aldertrack

  • Nobody cares anymore- the word is out all across the 32nd ward that she is a Moreno operative funded by Rahm.

  • Please vote everybody. I think Scott has done a great job and deserves your vote.

New Store at old Bucktown Beanery

Anyone know what, if anything, is going in at that location at Damen/Webster? Looks likes work is going on.

  • AMG

I believe it's the new Red Eye space. When I was in for my appt in December, my doc mentioned they were moving there.

  • Tankboy It wasn't me.

Yup, Red Eye, the optical peeps. No pins intended.

  • Joselito I write things and people pay me for it.

Much as I was bummed that the Beanery closed awhile back, I can't really complain that my eye doctor's a bit closer :)

Don't be afraid to call 911

So many posts lately about seeing suspicious activity. Please call 911 if you see something. The police department WANTS you to call them if you see suspicious activity because we can be the collective eyes on the street. You should also post on this site but the police told us at a CAPS meeting that they don't have the time to track this site. Don't be afraid to call 911. You may prevent more crimes in our neighborhood.

  • Thanks for the reminder. I've noticed 911 works a bit differently in Chicago than other areas. 911 is really the police phone number if you need a car out for any reason.

Thanks for the reminder. I've noticed 911 works a bit differently in Chicago than other areas. 911 is really the police phone number if you need a car out for any reason.

A good excuse to have couple officers walk your street is if there are a lot of illegally parked cars. Call on it (prepared with zone number or what's illegal and then meet the officers out there). Everytime i have done this it's because there are >6 vehicles parked illegally within 100 ft of my property. I'm happy to point out when someone is 2' from the curb, license plates expired, no zone permit, missing front license plate. (Yes I've received a ton of my own tickets in the past.)

The officers always seem friendly when I've done this in the past.

Also, if you ever see someone checking door handles, call immediately!!!

  • Marcelino Gerena New 31st Ward Resident

Calling also allocates additional resources (more police) that are based on the number of calls received. Crime reported help police see patterns and help in stopping future crimes.

  • Jay

why call when they don't do anything? besides they are tied up with REAL crime they don't have the man power to check under your bed at night when you hear a scary noise!
