Are you missing a Prius with Texas plates?

There's a silver Prius parked at the northeast corner of Lakewood and Wellington that's on the verge of being towed. It is parked too far from the curb and over the crosswalk. It has a smashed right, front fender and the inside of the car has been vandalized. It has had multiple tickets on it. In case this is your car and you've lost it, it was stolen, or whatever, you might want to move it.

Missing cat

Mila is still missing. Last seen around Lakewood and Wolfram. Black and white, with a black nose. Reward $300. Please call if you see her: 773-580-4130. Thanks.

  • Danielle, do you have a photo of Mila or a specific description? You mentioned female, black and white tuxedo in a previous post. Is she short- or long-haired? Large or small? Is she friendly? Would she allow someone to approach her, give her a treat and pick her up?

Have you posted and looked on Lost Cats of Illinois on Facebook and other places people on other posts have mentioned? Have you been able to post photos around the neighborhood? That could help to get others looking for her. I do hope you find your sweet girl!

I have posted her information on Lost Cats, Craig's List and NextDoor. We also have posters up all over the neighborhood.

Mila has been seen three times over the past week around our alley near Wolfram and Lakewood, so we think she is close by. She will run if approached.

She is wearing a collar with her name and our phone number. She is also chipped and alerts about her missing have been sent to local vets and shelters.

Parking lot bait and switch?

Hi to my fellow Chicagoans in Lake View. Last night my family purchased parking passes online for James G. Blaine Elementary School at 1420 W. Grace for the Zac Brown concert. They were advertised for $9.00 by Parking jockey online. Realizing the bargain, we grabbed two spots immediately and printed our passes. When we arrived at the parking lot, a provider attempted to charge us $40.00 each for the spots until we threatened to call the police.

The offer was out of line for the area, I realize that. What I didn't like was the bait and switch tactics. Before I get upbraided for not taking public transportation, my other family members came in from Milwaukee and had to return home last night. Typically I will take public transportation to concerts at Wrigley.

Neat eats

Does anyone know what we can expect with neat eats restaurant going up at 1258 w Belmont? I just got the mail notification that they applied for a liquor license and was wondering what it will be.

  • BarryDad Neighbor. Parent. Community Group Member.

Shelly, I don't understand your first comment - why would the behavior of LaGondola or Joey's make you complain about a new unrelated liquor license? Why would a new unrelated restaurant owner inherit the sins of others?

  • Shelly Lifelong suburbanite, now in South Lakeview.

Just for example, there was a bar/restaurant on Ashland that garnered enough complaints that nobody was allowed to apply for a liquor license for a year. If there had been issues, I would ask how they they would make changes to avoid any issues with neighbors.

Canine Glaucoma

I have recently had to put lay my best friend to rest. He gave me the best 15 years of my life. I have recently had to put lay my best friend to rest. He gave me the best 15 years of my life. For the last 6 years, he suffered from glaucoma, had one eye removed, but was still the happiest guy around. Making people smile every time he passed by. Before the end, I had refilled all his meds which were very expensive. I would love to pass along the unused and unopened medication to someone who is going through the same thing and may need some help. I know that I could donate to the shelter or even my vets office, but as one of the meds needs to be kept cold when unopened. I didn't want it to go to waste by not being stored properly.

Please do let me know if this can be of use to anyone. Would gladly meet up and pass it along!

  • I'm sorry for your loss, like many others here I've had to do this myself just a couple months ago. What a kind way to honor your best friend.

I had a beloved dog that died of mitral value disease and I had left over expensive heart medicine when he passed. I too donated the medicine to PAWS. They were very happy to receive it.

  • I am fairly certain that both Crew and Andersonville Brewery are showing the games. One is in Uptown near Lawrence and the brewery is next to Hamburger Mary's.

  • Matilda at 3101 N Sheffield is showing packers games this year. Talked to the owner and he's got a bunch of specials coming in from Hinterland, Oso, Capital and other wisconsin craft brews throughout the season. Supposedly there's going to be an "official" packer beer released this year and served only a Lambeau and he managed to get a keg.

I was on my balcony on Sunday morning at about 3:30 a.m. watching some very suspicious activity going on since I got robbed and beaten on the same block less than a month ago. I saw a white male in his early-mid twenties walking South on Sheffield towards Belmont when a group of about seven black males approached him heading north on Sheffield on the East side of the street. There has been a lot of construction going on there so the view is pretty limited which makes it an easy place to rob someone. I don't know what they said to the guy but within 30 seconds he had his hands up and they emptied his pockets and walked south on Sheffield and continued past Belmont. The guy who got robbed just stood there for about a minute and then took of sprinting north on Sheffield. I immediately called the police, told them what happened, and within minutes they had squad cars up and down the block. I don't know if they caught the guys, but they certainly made an impact since more than 30 people cleared the corner and started heading north on Sheffield. Everyone just walked to Sheffield & School and lingered there for a while. I also noticed a very suspicious white Dodge Charger making rounds as well as a old Black Jeep Cherokee before the cops showed up. This block gets very dangerous EVERY NIGHT after about 1 a.m. so DO NOT WALK ALONE and try be careful people.

  • Thanks Bob, the next one I had on my calendar wasn't till December, glad you clarified.

  • I have lost all faith that the CPD in our neighborhood can protect us from anything at this point. They are now merely just the cleanup crew it seems until they get staffed properly.

Are they considering bringing back Bus Route 11 Lincoln Avenue?

Has your life or business been affected by the removal of the #11 bus route along Lincoln Avenue?

Please take a short survey (see link below) And please forward this email to all you know. It is important for our voices to be heard

I just posted a response to your other version of this post. I want the bus back. But, there is no indication from CTA that it will come back. Our last hope was for Target (now cancelled) to pay for it. It is only about a million a year extra for it. Maybe we can ask one of the developers along Lincoln Ave. to pitch in.

  • jasper1055 Roscoe Villiage

They are not bringing it back. I'll try and find the link.

I have a friend moving to the city and he is looking for recommendations on temporary placement agencies he could reach out to while he looks for more permanent work. Does anyone have a temporary placement agency recommendation for someone moving to the area with sales and customer service skills?
