MAYBE IT"S TIME FOR A NEW MAYOR?

Just thought all pet owners would like to know. If you own a dog and it gets lost and placed at Chicago pound, they will hold for 3 days. The latest appointment is 6pm. So if you work? guess you either take days of or your dog can be put to sleep.
And if you own a cat? Bummer - cats don't have ANY hold. So if it is placed at the pound it's as good as dead.
If you are a member of any other community group please repost.

Maybe it's time for a new Mayor?

Felix, while I'm generally pretty skeptical of the media, I have it from a source very close to this story that your information is correct!

  • Sara, you're absolutely correct. People have the right to passionate about whatever they're passionate about. I personally think we as a society are at a new low if we aren't concerned about human life but that's my opinion. That does not negate concern for any other causes/lives. Have a great day.

Looking for a unique/ unconventional event space...

Hi all-

We're looking for an event space; around 4000 square feet for around 150 people. We've searched quite a bit, but haven't found the ideal space just quite yet. It's for a wedding, and we're trying to avoid the "standard" wedding venues (I know that's terribly vague). Anyways, if anyone knows of a venue or a resource to look at, it would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,
Kevin

  • I was just reminded of the wedding that we attended at the Chicago Historical Society. It was very interesting. I also saw that there was a function at the Mariano's on Halsted and Monroe. Unusual but beautiful setting for a smaller gathering like a rehearsal dinner. I love weddings. As Gary requested...please let us know your choice(s). Good luck.

  • Just wondering Kevin if you picked a place?

Tuesday: Elect Maureen Sullivan 11th Ward Alderman

Tuesday is the election where UC/UV and LI will vote as the 11th Ward for the first time. The best candidate for the 11th Ward and especially its northern reaches is clearly Maureen Sullivan - a community activist endorsed by University Village's Dr. Michelle Fennessy, the public health activist whose successful work with cleaning up area viaducts is very well known in the community.

Maureen and Michelle share an interventionist outlook on community affairs and they don't let gridlock and finger-pointing get in the way of results.
