Morgans Bar and Grill

Hey!

I may have missed it, but does anyone know what happened to Morgans?

Thanks!

  • 25th Little Italy

Morgan's closed because they couldn't compete with the new bars that opened in the area. UIC did hold their lease, but the decision had nothing to do with UIC.

  • Interesting...good to know! Hopefully, a great new place will open there soon!

    Thanks

Looking for a female workout buddy!

Hi fellow south loopers! I just moved back to the South Loop (my favorite part of the city) and need to get moving especially with this cold weather. My default in the winter is to stay in and order takeout.

Looking for another female or a group of females that would like to workout together and motivate one another! I have a gym membership to xsport fitness on 8th and state. I am also open to trying other workout studios in the south loop. Two that I am really interested in trying are UFC Boxing and 105F bikram.

If there are any ladies out there interested in a workout buddy give me a shout :)

    Hi Jenny,

I'm traveling a lot for the holidays so I was thinking of starting my groupon for 105F in January. Probably around January 5.

Let me know if you would like to join me

  • Hi Aria,

Yes, I will join you. I plan to buy the groupon later this week. :)

Website/forum/reviews on Homeowner's Associations in the South Loop

Does anyone know if there a website or forum about HOA's in the South Loop? I'm a soon-to-be first-time home buyer, and I just want to make sure I research the properties I'm interested in.

To current homeowners, what do you suggest is the best way to find out about homeowner's associations? Thanks in advance!!

  • GSLA Board of Directors South Loop Community organization

Would you like to post your question to our facebook page and we can see if anyone has some guidance for you? We have many HOA contacts and would be happy to put you in touch with any specific buildings you may be interested in.

  • I will do that. Thank you!

Stay warm and safe in the cold weather

Colder weather is upon us and it is important we keep ourselves warm and safe this winter. Remember to wear layers when going outside and to keep your hands and head covered. Viaducts in the City Need to be Addressed

There are 300 Viaducts in the City of Chicago.

There are 300 Viaducts in the City of Chicago.

As you are well aware, the viaducts are a mess for both safety and health.

Michelle Fennessy a Chicago resident has taken on this viaduct issue in a big way.

We have been in contact with City Hall, Streets and San, Department of Health, the Railroads and even will go to Warren Buffett whose company Berkshire Hathaway has the controlling interest in the BNSF railroad. There is a meeting set up with the Mayor in early January and we want to present him with the petition signed by as many folks as possible. Whether you are a resident of Chicago, in the suburbs, out of state, please sign. And please forward this to as many people as you know. The link to the viaduct petition is chicagoviaduct.com You can also post on your FACEBOOK PAGE!

We won't stop until these viaducts are safe for all. We all can't forget Natasha McShane, the Irish exchange student and Chicago friend Stacy Jurich who were badly beaten with a baseball bat under a Bucktown viaduct.

Lights need to be fixed, broken glass and pigeon droppings need to be cleaned up along with routine maintenance.

In addition cracked walls, ceilings falling. Certainly don't need someone hit by this.

The link says it all...would appreciate anything you can do to spread the word.
