Motorcycle noise on the Ohio feeder

With the advent of warmer weather comes the motorcycle racers on the Ohio feeder. Those who live close to the feeder are familiar with the noise made by these motorcycles, especially late at night. I am contacting my alderman to suggest that a plan be formulated early so as to minimize the nuisance. Please join me. Thanks.

The Ohio feeder runs through the 42nd and the 27th wards.

Alderman Brendan Reilly, 42nd, 312.642.4242, Email: office@ward42chicago.com

Motorcycle noise is an annoying and disrespectful way to piss off the residents, but it's likely one of the least important issues for the city right now, especially considering it's hard to enforce. The only way to prperly enforce it IMO is with the use of technology, namely motorcycle noise sensitive cameras. Not sure if these exist, but I'm sure the city would have no problem finding a company do develop them in return for a chunk of camera's revenue. Here's another great revenue making idea for the alderman to explore: how about introducing a "blocking the [intersection] box" law, which causes mayhem on many busy intersections in Chicago including the downtown area. Many drivers because of "f*ck logic" enter the intersection (whether going straight or making advanced left on green arrow) even though there isn't any room to fully cross it through. Install cameras with $500 fine at every major intersection. It will significantly help to alleviate the traffic and the city will make more revenue than all the red light cameras combined.

  • 1) Main city of Chicago highway feeder ramp. Busiest in the city. There for 40 years
    2) Build residences right up against highway because the land is cheap
    3) Sell / Rent residences
    4) Profit

2 white dogs found

There were 2 small white dogs running around the neighborhood. A couple of us were able to grab both and they are with a couple until a rescue shelter comes.

  • I talked to the owner and unfortunately these aren't her dogs :( she got them groomed yesterday and these 2 dogs are not groomed. The dogs went with a couple until the shelter (not sure which one) could pick them up. Found them on Huron and Wood this morning around 9:30am.

Experience with The Gardner School

Hi. Does anyone have experience with the Gardner School? We're thinking about it for our soon-to-be toddler son. If you do have experience with the school, how old is your child and how long has he or she been attending?

Also, does anyone have other pre-school recommendations in the West Loop area? Thanks!

A short time later, the clerk of a nearby 7-Eleven store at 2600 N. Lincoln reported that he was hiding in a back room after seeing two masked men walk into the store. The offenders fled the scene empty-handed.

Police pursued the vehicle all the way to Cicero and Grand, where the driver was arrested and up to three other offenders bailed out on foot. One runner was arrested behind a nearby warehouse, but two others are believed to have escaped.

Amber Building/Viva Plaza

Just saw that the first floor doesn't have Lyft training anymore. It now says "ANNEX" and "never sleeps", anyone know what's happening? I have been excited to see the restoration and investment in the neighborhood.

  • Still waiting on anything official, but the rumor is that it's going to be co-working space, even on the ground floor. Doesn't make much sense to me (and I was hoping for a restaurant) but that's what's out there right now. BTW, if you live in the area, join the UK Village Community page on Facebook -- it's being discussed there.

  • it's an outpost for an ad agency

  • @JG0622 -- any idea which one? Great to have more people in the area during the day.
