Two plans and lots of similarities between the two

I came across an article in the Tribune called, "A new plan of Chicago: 12 ways to heal our city", and it very similar to my own plan for the 28th ward. I encourage everyone to read the article (Chicago Tribune, Sunday, September 21, 2014). There are few differences, but they have more similarities.

East Garfield Park Cleaning Up Yet?

Thinking about buying a SFH in EGP. Around Madison & California. If we purchase, we promise to do our part to keep it clean and safe. (Sweep, cut grass, plant flowers, call police, rally the neighbors, develop a phone tree, community flower garden, block by block).

Anybody out there purchase a property in that community and loving it?

Thoughts please?

    Ms. Lynne,

I'm very interested in the intersection of California and Madison. Much credit is given to Mr. Wallace and his extended reach. However, I am highly aggravated by the over-all appearance of the corner. Earlier this summer I documented the over growth with pictures and later took pictures of the cheap and disrespectful job done by the city to cut the Southeast corner.

As usual, glass, paper, plastic, cans and everything else was cut up with the weeds.

A tactic in my strategy of fighting filth and fear in our community is to encourage Pastors of the many, many, many, many churches is to help Sel get the 'hell' away from their church, as it relates to trash and debris and unsightly vegetation.

My plan was to engage the church - to the immediate East of the lot - and do a clean up project with the children of the church, but failed to follow through. Our Congressman's office at that location is flanked by insulting properties, which are maintained with little or no concern for curb appeal, or respect for the community.

The simple, self-serving act of cleaning up our immediate environment has empirical influences on our community's "INVESTMENT WORTHINESS". Everything is worth more............ clean, everything and everybody

The Devil of filth and fear, with all of its evil and death, will reign where the cleansing and courageous power of God does not seize control through us and rain on the Devil's party.

Congressman Davis gave me another opportunity to express my position on his Cable Access talk show Sept. 12.

Join me in begging the Congressman to have me on again soon. Maybe you can be a guest with me.

This is a tough area. There are clusters of urban pioneers who garden in the vicinity. It will take a few years; but progress eventually comes. Got to be ready for a LONG and HARD fight with the system to get even the most basic of city services. How hard are you willing to fight to keep streets safe, clean up the dirty spots, help community build. If you are tough enough and interested enough this is the perfect spot for you.

The faint of heart should not try as this is a lifelong task.

All the way up 'til now our local politicians has been anti-middle-class, anti-business, and anti-home ownership, to endorse these pursuits leads to competition and that's what they never wanted. But that is what we need, that is how we will grow. We must support the free market, this is a capitalist economy; therefore, we must participate in the capitalist economy.

Help me help us, this is the chance to get it right.

Going public with your position can be dangerous insofar as exposing what you don't or do know and possibly ain't got a clue.

Explain to us, for the edification of our liberation and in one or two syllable words, what is a "capitalist economy.

    William,

This is music to my ears! I look forward to getting involved and supporting someone. Not sure who yet, but we MUST get a new Alderman for the 28th ward. Someone who will not vote with Rahm Emanuel 100% of the time and someone who is sincere about getting the 28th ward back on its feet. Returning the power back to the hard working residents and not the gang-bangers, drug dealers, drug addicts, connected business owners and corrupt politicians.

I'd beware of Jason Ervin stepping down before his term ends, only for Rahm to appoint another bought-off Alderman to vote with him 100%. Be cautious of this! Jason Ervin CAN BE BOUGHT-OFF!!

Let's get it right this upcoming election.

Capitalist path

I'm know that the majority of the alderperson's job is to create policies; however, that work is part time work. I believe that we can modernize local politics by creating a private business that can sustain itself and create revenue for the 28th ward. The capitalist economy biggest success is the middle class and I don't think that has to change.

The goal is to secure 1/3 of the revenue from the creation of the Chicago Chess Association to fund need programs in the 28th ward, participants from around the city will be encouraged join and stay involved (that way we can create revenue and still stick to the tradition way of gathering funds).

Funds will be spent in five specific areas; namely, education, job creation, environmental improvement, housing exploration, and events.

I will strengthen community participation through the 49 precinct captains, 5 main captains, 5 professional from the academics, 10 collegiate students from areas of interest in relation to the 28th ward's growth.

Community participations will always be welcomed and encouraged.

Information will be gather to so that we can make inform decisions as to the best course for the ward.

If your experience is anything like my own, minimum wages as they currently stand is bitter sweet (yeah I'm employed, but I'm barely making things happen with what I have).

As always the case middle ground must be found and altered accordingly, I believe that current alderman lacks the necessary know how.

I will create a council of six to eight of the precincts captain and they will act in concert with collegiate students and professional in the academic world to conduct various activities to find the best solutions. Ever case is unique; therefore, we'll move methodically and gather the required data to endorse potential policy shifts.

We don't want businesses dumping ships because their afraid that they can't make a profit and we want to ensure people that we know that they're $8.50 a hour.

One would think that our condition would have improved, on the contrary, we are in a crisis.

Our biggest problem has been that we have never recovered from our past, we have attached our past with our present and now we have become victims of opportunistic politicians who exploit it for their own personal gains. Let’s take responsibility for our future and leave our children with a great legacy in which they deserve, an honorable history with a promising future.

I mentioned that our institutions was bias against us; moreover, intra-racism is often never explored or mentioned at all, I think we should start having discussing about it because it’s one of the biggest aspect to our healthy development. I believe that we will find that our very own leaders are the culprits for practicing intra-racism tactics and have hijacked the political agenda here in Chicago to keep the masses of blacks at a disadvantage
