I just wish he'd clean up our filthy ward and remove all of the open-air drug markets and public drinking throughout our major thorough ways. I took photos of the trash, over grown weeds, trash in the parks and tall grass along Madison and some side streets. I didn't see a way for me to upload them on this post and I don't want to start another one.

We all need to talk to neighbors on each side of us, above, beneath and to the rear. And tell everyone we know in the 28th ward NOT TO VOTE for Jason Ervin!!! When re-election time comes around, I'll be sure to early vote!!

If you want to get photos on this post...start an album. Send the link to this post and we can open the link. Lable it by say address.

EVERYBODY please make an album and post the disgusting conditions of your ward so everyone can see!!!

It used to be that picassa could make an album that you could link to. Not sure how that process works because things have changed in the last couple years.

If anybody knows how to do this easily...please give us the steps.

There was a vacancy sign in the front window. The boys jumped the fence in the rear and attempted to kick the back door in before they were chased away by the owner. The boys ran towards the 3300 block W on Carroll. Be on the look out for these (3) boys. The smaller one had a maroon jacket, khaki pants and new white low-cut gym shoes. The second one had on a light gray hoodie jacket with black pants. The third one had on a green hoodie jacket with brown pants. They were cleanly dressed. One of them was so small with brown and blonde short dreads, he fit through the separation of the fence. The other (2) are slender and taller.

  • Ope new

I hope the police soon arrest these boys. Someone is going to get hurt eventually.

YES, if someone is in your home...DON'T walk in! A few years ago a woman walked into her house and an intruder was there. He stabbed her 17 times and she was in the hospital because of that attack.

Have heard that robberies are on the upswing. Someone should send this EB thread to both the 11th and 12th Police Districts.

Caught Red Handed/changing timing on yellow lights

Has anyone gotten a red light ticket where the time was less than the 3 seconds allowed by law?

I saw in the Sun Trib a large article where the city illegally got 8mil from issuing tickets to people who did NOT break the law.

The city will KEEP the ill gotten funds.

If that is true...that sucks. Why should a mayor and his CDOT Commissioner be allowed to break the law and get away with it.

Red light cameras continue to be a problem for car drivers in Chicago.

As traffic violations affect insurance rates. As it is expensive to pay a ticket, the fines, and school...this action against Chicago drivers should be addressed by ALL Aldermen!

Get the $$ back for those who were ticketed illegally!

What do others think? Have any of us gotten one of those bogus tickets?

  • Tracy BB Super Cute Tracy

I tried to fight it and they claimed they never got my request for hearing and doubled the fine and now said it was out of their hands.

Tracy, email patricia.jackiowak@cityofchicago.org. Ask if she can find out if your ticket was one of the "questionable" tickets. Ask if there is any kind of investigation she can do on her end.

It is true that MAIL can be terrible in Chicago. Who knows if it is a postal fiasco or another systemic failure in Chicagos' parking tickets.

THANKS for the response. Ask Jackiowak if she can look into it. If it is a system failure, we can also send to the DOIT top person. Department of Information technology and the Inspector general. The Trib also has investigators who might be interested in your case as DATA to support their claims about Chicago Parking Tickets.

There is also a head of the parking tickets. He should look into if their lock box person dropped the ball or the mail. That person has the authority to do that. I used to know the guy...he was WONDERFUL. But he is gone now. The question is, Who replaced Mat D?

The Koyal Group Info Mag Scientists got it wrong on gravitational waves

It was announced in headlines worldwide as one of the biggest scientific discoveries for decades, sure to garner Nobel prizes. But now it looks likely that the alleged evidence of both gravitational waves and ultra-fast expansion of the universe in the big bang (called inflation) has literally turned to dust.

What is the real reason open, flagrant drug dealing goes on in inner city areas??? Why doesn't the Government shut all of this down?

Why doesn't the government promote urban renewal as it has done in many neighborhoods? Safety is a primary requisite for neighborhoods to get better.

Is it the leadership? Some adjacent wards have had good progress these past few years because of good leadership. But not in 28.

The video tape should have included the drug dealers. Many of them hang out at 3800 W. Maypole and 3300 W. Maypole. The drug addicts come from everywhere including Madison & Pulaski. The drugs in the park have been reported by the community to the police for more than 15 years. The park district manager, Jim said he doesn't manage police matters. The park district workers cut grass, pick up trash, etc. knowing the heroin huts and drug sales are going on. The police have been called about open air alcohol drinking too. They just drive through. The park district blames the Alderman, the Alderman blames CPD, CPD blames the people, and Caps never report the whole story from the residents to all parties involved. The park district need to assign a squad car to Garfield Park and cameras. The bikes are not working.

  • gpblight 15 Yr East Garfield Resident

Turning a blind eye is what goes on. This makes no sense at all because a half dozen city employees turn a blind eye daily.

That is why it is so bad here. City employees do not do their civic duty and turn in drug dealers. Go figure???

Civilians should give evidence but not city workers?????
