Police activity on Pulaski just south of Foster Friday afternoon 4/18/14

Does anyone know why there were two police and three undercover cars on Pulaski yesterday afternoon (4/18/14)?There was also yellow tape on the fence by the entrance to the park's parking lot on the west side of Pulaski just south of Foster.

Found dog - Male Chihuahua

Does anyone know this dog? I found him
near Elston and Lawrence at noon on 4/18/14. He has no microchip and no one has called local shelter/animal hospitals looking for him. Please share if you can. He's really sweet and I really hope to be able to reconnect him with his human companion. Thanks!

CeCe Edwards, none of the stuff you're saying makes any sense. How are banks getting rich by fees from foreclosure insurance? If the bank forecloses on a property and they sell it for more than what's owed to them then they have to return that money to the owner, however this almost never happens because if the property is worth more than the loan amount then the owner would have sold it themselves rather than let the bank foreclose it.

If you're talking about banks forced-place insurance on a property they have a lien on, well that insurance money goes directly to the insurance co, not the bank.

and what finalization of sale you're talking about? The foreclosure process runs through the court. Once the bank acquires the ownership, it's up to them when to sell it and for how much. They don't have to be accountable to anyone as long as they pay property taxes and maintain the property, cut the grass, clean the snow etc. If they're not, then neighbors can certainly report them to 311 and their Alderman.

Haven't heard about the Robo signing issue for the last three years so unless you cite some source, you're just making it up.

I readily admit that I occasionally hijack a string, but I always make it a point to tie the tangent into the original post. This State Bill discussion has nothing to do with the unethical activity of the Laurino family, or you have failed to make that connection.

Graffiti- Spray painting a house.

Can someone explain why, when a friend and myself saw a 14 year old trouble maker spray paint the side of the house right across the street. With us sitting there, we caught him. I called the police, they came awhile later. We talked, they handcuffed him. That's the only time he showed any emotion at all. He cried, policed ask if that was my building. It wasn't so the cop told me there was nothing they could do unless the owner of the house was there to sign the complaint???? What the hell, the owners were out for the night and we couldn't get ahold of them. So away then went, kid in the cop car. But nothing was going to happen. What about that we witnessed this CRIME. If this is what happens, no punishment no trouble. The punks and trouble makers know. The chances they will get off is great! ( we are in Mayfair area)

  • Tom from Mayfair 41 years in Mayfair area

The sad thing is, if the parents cared enough to set a good example, they would make that child clean it off. No matter how long it took. But my guess is that since the kid is left to roam without any supervision, nothing will be done and he will do worst things in the future. Parent have to be made responsible for their children's act. But I am old school also.

Speed Limit Cameras on Foster

How can we volunteer to have Foster Avenue, between Elston and Kimball, set as the first area to test the speed-limit cameras?

This section of Foster is clearly posted as a 30 MPH zone, yet because of the large area of parks and little parking there is a very large amount of speeding down this street. It's a real threat to pedestrians, senior citizens, children, bicyclists, and other using the public streets.

This would be a good place to test the system. Speed limit signs are clearly posted along the route and new signs wouldn't even be needed.

The price is pretty reasonable for the amount of classes you get. I also can't say enough good things about Angela, the dog trainer. She is seriously a wizard when it comes to training puppies.

Bonus: if you buy the Petco calendar at the front check-outs, there is a coupon for $20 off a training course package (the calendar only cost $5 when I bought it, so you are actually saving about $15.)

We would love to get to meet other dog owners and puppies in the area!
