Bravo to Robert Murphy for getting 43% of the 39th ward!

Although he didn't win, this was a great showing and an indictment of "Marge".

Margaret Laurino 5,840 53%
Robert Murphy 4,740 43%

Arena's Office Vandalized

So this is what the election has been reduced too?

Not sure how anyone could support this kind of behavior. Even if Arena's opponents did not condone this behavior, it says a lot about those who are in favor of Arena's opponents.

I guess we'll see this evening if a positive campaign comes out on top.

https://twitter.com/JohnArena445/status/570180903177101314

  • What happened to Arena yesterday? What is this message? I watched everyone’s FB and Arena didn’t get many likes on any of them. Did his campaign volunteers cut and run?

  • Looks like some slushy from 7-11. Someone may have picked it up from 7-11 @ Jeff Park and didn't like the flavor so dumped it on the sidewalk. Drama much ?

Our Very Own Tunnel?

Alderman Laurino "join[ed] Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Congressman Mike Quigley, and officials from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MRWD) to announce" that a storm water tunnel will be built in Albany Park. It is to begin in Eugene Park, go under Foster Ave, and 2 years and $45-55M later. empty into North Branch. She "will be engaging the Albany Park community through a series of community meetings and public forums." (per 2/17/15 email)

Love this.

So happy to be able to communicate instanteanously with so many neighbors on so many platforms - EveryBlock, Twitter, Facebook, NextDoor.

Please know that I am listening to all of you, including those who disagree. I value all your opinions.

There has been lots of things happening lately in the 39th ward race, including that I received the Tribune's endorsement and a poll administrator at the N. Park Village Admin building who works for Ald. Laurino was removed.

I'm happy to answer any questions you all have about these or other issues. Please feel free to reach out on social media, on my website, or by phone 773.710.8431.

Candidates for 39th Ward Alderman

I've been studying the 39th Ward candidates for alderman, and while I am still undecided since anything can happen between now and the election, I have been impressed by Robert Murphy. He seems to have a handle on the issues of the Ward and appears very passionate. I am still open to hearing more from Joe Laiacona and Mary Hunter.

If you're interested in knowing - Murphy, Laiacona's and Hunter all have Facebook pages, and Murphy and Laiacona have twitter...

If you're interested in knowing - Murphy, Laiacona's and Hunter all have Facebook pages, and Murphy and Laiacona have twitter too. I tried to find a FB page or twitter for Alderman Laurino but I don't think she has either.

If anyone has any thoughts on any of the candidates, I would like to hear any views. You can also private message me if you like.

Tuesday all questions will be answered. Whoever got their message out the best will win. It has been a tough campaign for all involved no matter who you support. I give them ALL credit for undertaking this task. I just feel there has been a lot of lies by all involved. Hopefully the weather forecast hold and we get a better than normal voter turn out in the ward. Good luck to all candidates!

Hey all,

Just a heads up to all the neighbors out there. My catalytic convertor was cut and stolen off my car last night 2/18 between 11pm and 8am on 2/19. I am near the cicero and montrose intersection. So you all may want to keep your eyes open and occasionally peek out your windows throughout the night and observe any suspicious activity.

End This Nonsense: Time to Vote Laurino Out of Office on February 24

It is time for us to end the nonsense of one family multi-generational public payroll patronage in the 39th Ward. So, on election day February 24 (or better yet sooner in person at North Park Village) vote LauriNO out of office. LauriNO's days are numbered so let's do this now and move on to a better future. It is time for us to end the nonsense of one family multi-generational public payroll patronage in the 39th Ward. So, on election day February 24 (or better yet sooner in person at North Park Village) vote LauriNO out of office. LauriNO's days are numbered so let's do this now and move on to a better future. Silence on your part or not voting is choosing to support what we have had to live under for 5 decades.

Time to end 50 years of one family rule now or we might get even more as family offspring and relatives are lurking everywhere. Rumors of family member State Rep D'Amico being put into the Alderman's spot only make this a nightmare that will not end. Vote Laurino out now and the dominoes fall from there...can nobody else do the job? Apparently only LauriNO/D'Amico DNA can handle the stress of it all...many government jobs in that family, many taxpayer pensions, several investigations, two felony convictions (D'Amico) and one indictment (LauriNO).

Enough. Stop being apologist for this nonsense. We deserve better. We can do better. We need better.

  • Rudra Banerji Filmmaker and interactive media producer

    Bob K,

Thanks for posting that. I'm glad that Laurino to trying to make Albany Park those areas better. Flooding is definitely an issue in our area as well. We had to install a french drain system to deal with the ground water.

Will this system address that? Or just sewer overruns?

  • Thanks Bob, saw that too, SHES THE WORST :P

This should help a lot of people when this is done.
