Neglectful Nanny - Is Your Child Named Lily?

While at the Uptown Target today (around 1:10pm), I heard a child (screaming) crying for over 15 minutes. My friend and I were concerned, so we went over to see what was going on. A young girl named Lily, under the age of 2 and wearing a pink snow suit, was strapped into her stroller while her nanny ignored her unrelenting cries for help. Lily was tomato red in the face and was obviously in severe distress! Her older sister (about 4 years old) was following along while the nanny shopped for clothes and makeup. After we went downstairs (10 minutes later), we heard that the child was still shrieking. At this point, I went up to the nanny and asked if the child was OK. She looked at me annoyed and said she "was either tired or hungry." The nanny continued shopping. A woman who also witnessed this came up to me (close to being in tears) after I said something and thanked me. She wanted to call the police. If this is your child, you should know that this nanny is neglectful and should not be caring for your children. I've attached photos of this nanny and the kids in case you are or know the parents. Please feel free to contact me if you need additional information. Thank you.

All we have is the story of one anonymous person on the internet with nothing to back it up. If she was taking pictures, why not take pictures of the kid throwing the fit and the "nanny" ignoring the child. Andrea never said she followed the nanny and kids around for a significant period of time - how does she know whether the "nanny" tried to console the child when she wasnt looking. Anyone with a child knows that there are times when you can try to console all you want, but the kid will continue to cry/throw a tantrum.

And yes, of course people can snap all the pictures they want in public. Personally, I am not a fan of posting these pictures on the internet. And I think this quick to judge and talk bad about this "nanny" without knowing all the facts is a slippery slope...

You never know what is going on about people.

So, Daniel, it is ok to say "I'd hunt you down" but not ok to say "this looked really bad to me and I would want to know if I were the parent"? I am not saying we shoudl "hunt down" the nanny, but the parents have a right to know. I used the word witchhunt due to the literal use of the word hunt by Rodgerparker. (S)he said that. Due to 600 pixels of fuzzy face she would "hunt you down". Seriously step back and look at the difference.

Anyone know a good body shop?

Someone slid into my car, slightly cracking the bumper and busting the headlight. It's a kinda old car, so I'd like to just get the bumper secured but not fully replaced.

Anyone know a good body shop that probably wouldn't insist on completely replacing the bumper?

Key questions in these cases may include whether common evidence can prove that certain challenged conduct caused each member of the proposed class to make a purchase and whether the challenged conduct injured each member of the proposed class. An additional consideration is whether each proposed class member’s damages, if any, can be determined by common proof.

It is important to choose a good insurance agent as this person will not only assist you in finding insurance solutions but also help you have an enjoyable insurance experience. Keep in mind that your relationship with your family and an insurance company that you rely on is a long- term one and will exceed your lifespan. An insurance agent serves as a mediator that represents you before an insurance company and represents an insurance company in front of you.

The following are some things to consider before choosing a life insurance agent:

Choose an agent with integrity

Integrity is the most important thing of all. Many features of an insurance policy are complex and not all of them are important. Many agents recommend products with no clear reason but to gain higher commission. Many insurance agents also apply the “hit and run” tactic by sealing a deal with no after sales service.

Seek an agent who will become your partner, who is willing to provide additional information, propose alternatives and does not force you to buy a product.

If you are highly pressed to buy a product as quickly as possible, move to another agent. One of the best ways of getting an agent is by asking for recommendations from friends, family members, colleagues or other professionals whom you cooperate with (tax consultants, bankers, notaries, etc). If an agent approaches you, check their records.

Anyone moving soon?

Girlfriend and I just moved into a place about 600 sq. ft. smaller than our previous apartment and need to get rid of all or most of our storage tubs. All different sizes. Just no where to store them.

Not looking for money or anything. Just comment and we can figure it out. Thanks!

  • I'm assuming most - if not all - have been claimed, but if any of you folks would like to pass them on again after an upcoming move, we'd gladly take them off your hands. :)

  • All gone, folks. Thanks and sorry!

Download file from an old DVD

I have two DVDs that contain commercials I appeared in and I don't have the proper software to download them so I can add them to my video demo. Anyone out there who can do this or knows someone who can? I will, of course, pay for the service.

  • Casper at Custom Audio. He can do all sorts of electronic stuff 7735072530

  • Rob S. Albany Park resident, condo owner. Dog owner.

Yes, try Handbrake. You can import the DVD's Video_TS/Audio_TS folders and then choose what format and quality you'd like to convert it to. Then you can import the converted file into iMovie.

Channels

I know, cable is terrible... But, has anyone in the area, with Comcast, had an issue with a couple HD channels not coming in? Is it a provider or equipment issue? The lost channels seem to be growing in number by the day, first it was ones like Cooking and DIY, now its also NBC and FOX.

  • JCVD Live in Ravenswood Gardens

I had the exact same issue, and it turned out that squirrels had eaten through the cable at the box on the pole. I've heard it's pretty common, apparently he like the insulation.

  • gotta love those squirrels :-)

Recommendation for kitchen cabinets / granite countertops / painter

Hi, I have seen a few posts recently about general contractors and rehab, and although those recommendations may be adequate for what I am looking for, I thought I would post with exactly what I want done and see if anyone has a recommendation. I am looking to have the kitchen cabinets refinished/repainted (from brown to white), have granite countertops replaced (most are basic pieces but there is a large island with a sink, outlets, etc), and have about 2400 sq. ft. painted. On this same note, I am curious if anyone has any opinions on whether refinishing/painting cabinets white is worth it or if it is just better to get all new cabinets? The cabinets are about 6 years old and in good shape, I just like white kitchens.

For the painting, I prefer someone that can do everything themselves, such as preparing the space (moving/covering furniture, taking TVs off the walls and putting back on, etc.).

Perhaps the painting and recommendation for the kitchen upgrades would be different people altogether? Or maybe the painting walls and cabinets would be same person and granite someone else?

Moving? Need Cardboard boxes?

Hi Neighbors.
I have great u-haul and u-line boxes broken down in various sizes, and would love to give them to someone who is planning to move in the next month. All you have to do is pick them up!

  • SBloom architect, dad and a half, 25 years north side

If you have any of the small U-Haul boxes ("Book Box": 12" x 12" x 12" or "Small Moving Box" 16-3/8" x 12-5/8" x 12-5/8" ) or the U-line equivalent, Ravenswood Elementary School Library could use them to store some Library books. My wife and I are helping the school fix up the Library.

I know I'm not the first to respond to this post, but if you would consider it, it would greatly help out the school.

I can pick them up anytime this week after Wednesday afternoon.

  • If any boxes still available, I would be interested.

Checking out the Lincoln Square Starbucks new look

I took this photo last week and you've probably already have been. Nevertheless, the new look Lincoln Square Starbucks at 4557 N Lincoln Ave Chicago, IL 60625 is business as usual.

  • They did the same thing to the Starbucks on Irving/ Lincoln/Damen. Definitely less comfortable. They seem to be discouraging people from staying. I get they don't want people working there all day, but coffee shops used to be social places. It's a moot point for me now, because I will avoid Starbucks if I have any other options.

  • Considering they put up walls over the windows in back (not sure how that was allowed) and the disposal of perfectly good materials that were not in bad shape, I'd consider it a pretty awful job. Companies and politicians need to be more mindful of labeling themselves as "green" or environmentally friendly.

Rory Fiedler: Who's Backing Him?

Hm. So I saw that this guy filed to run against Pawar in the 47th. Is this the "Jeri's Diner Candidate" that some of the old Machine stalwarts were talking about digging up a few months ago, or just a random independent? Curious if anyone knows about his candidacy at all.

  • The Elected School Board question is on the ballot in 38 Chicago Wards. Pretty good grass roots effort! Ward-to-Ward vote is needed since only 3 questions are allowed on the city-wide ballot and city-wide was blocked by Emmanuel's allies.

Democracy is messy but the alternative has been worse so far.

  • CynicalPolitico Political Consultant, Geek, Policy-Wonk Wannabee

Ok. I was right, well, sort of. I predicted 85 to 15 for Pawar. The numbers are 83 to 17. I may be cynical but I'm a politico, and I'm right.

Jeff f, greenhorn, Robin, where are you? Ricolooola???? RICOOOOOLA!!!!

In a few weeks we'll find out who funded Fiedler's campaign and I bet we'll find a Gene Schulter. Beware 47, the race for 2012019 began last week and if you're not careful the goons will come back.

Headlight ticket

Yesterday I received a ticket from CPD for one of my headlights going out. I replaced the bulb today. Has anyone ever gotten one of these before? The language on the ticket is a little vague. Can I contest this once its fixed? Any guidance is helpful. Thanks.

  • Daniel Kelber Living the Good Life in Bowmanville

The ticket will be dismissed if you bring a receipt to court. I know because I used to prosecute traffic tickets for the City.

  • I'm sure you did, but just in case - did you read the fine print on the ticket relating to the cited charge? Some 'fixable' citations specify how to have the ticket negated provided the problem is remedied. The courts don't want dockets crowded with cases that have no need to be there; this may be one, especially since as I understand it the light wasn't already burned out.

Still Time to Vote

The polls are open until 7:00. If you haven't voted yet. Get over to your polling place and cast a ballot for Alderman Pawar.

It seems Kathy has gone dark. But that's okay. An alderman cannot please everyone. Kathy is entitled to her opinion; vulgar as it may be. However, since that time his vote total has grown to 9,844. His opponent's total has grown too, to 2,048. The percentages have changed, 82.78% to 17.22%. It may not be over for a while. The Board of Elections doesn't have to certify the election to the State Board of Elections for a while yet. The numbers are likely to change as the post office delivers ballots. But don't get your hopes up Kathy, there aren't 7,797 ballots still outstanding. Alderman Pawar has been re-elected.
