6 trillion dollars for the wars....it is amazing how much wars cost nowdays! Back in the 60's the Viet Nam War was raging and it was the same complaint. Then there was the civil unrest rolled right into in all and we were going to the moon on top of of it!! So, there was money to burn, too...at least that was the politicians ideas. This time around the people believe these wars were justified, because of 911.....kinda like a resolve to those who were mean to the U.S.....the problem with wars today is not only the cost (huge), but the objective and the means to an end of that war. Ask any soldier from Korea, Nam or any other after those and he can tell you it was a never ending politician cluster $#&%. Thus the huge cost and the longevity of the war. Now, we could close our eyes and make believe we still have that 6 trillion. What do you think the government woulda done with it anyhow....?? Yes, wasted some more as they still do now. Why?...because they have unlimited funds. OURS. Taxpayers. They can cut spending and yes they can do alotta things but our elected officials are completely out for themselves. There is more and more government in our lives, but we b&*%h about it and still don't "feel" it and never protest to show government that "we" are unsatisfied. Hell, we should take to the streets as we did in the 60's. (I'm too old now) But NOT this generations...for they are the entitled. Sometimes its good to make some noise so the government can hear us...because it ain't working by not voting.......or voting either.

@Monte Walsh - First of all, that's 6 trillion dollars (and the meter's still running) for ONE war; the one in Iraq.

You, and many others, rail about our government; WE are our government (voter fraud notwithstanding). And those of you who don't vote, your non-participation ALWAYS benefits one candidate...

@Monte Walsh - First of all, that's 6 trillion dollars (and the meter's still running) for ONE war; the one in Iraq.

You, and many others, rail about our government; WE are our government (voter fraud notwithstanding). And those of you who don't vote, your non-participation ALWAYS benefits one candidate or the other. If everybody agrees that dems and repubs are 2 sides of the same coin, why do we keep voting for dems and repubs? I could elaborate, MW, but I'll summarize my feelings on this by saying 2 things need to happen in order for real, fundamental and substantial change to occur: mandatory voting and public financing of campaigns for elected office.

What is this "I'm too old now" mess? We are the ones that should be prominent in any public demonstrations because we (who were around in the 60's and 70's) know that stuff works! Ya know, Monte, being 'old' in many other cultures/countries doesn't carry the same negative connotations as it does here. Once again, I could elaborate, but I'll just say the challenge before people like me and you is to redefine what it means to be 'old' in America. Some of us recognized this 'battle' was coming and began preparing for it 30 and 40 years ago; it's never too late to join the 'fight.'

'Monte Walsh.' Good movie. Lee Marvin, Jack Palance.

cameras

Let's be honest, we need to start putting up surveillance cameras outside our homes. This will deter loitering in area. Especially if it's connected to an outside security company that stores data. Stop being fearful of these thugs

  • Yep, but one thing they will do is fight to keep their neighborhoods safe if they want to stay. We are going to have to develop an effective plan to take back our streets, along with prayer.

Southeast Side Chop Shop Preys on Community and

This southeast side chop shop has been preying on the surrounding community - they have been stealing cars and taking them to have parts stripped and then scrapped for metal.

The car thefts in the area surrounding Adelman's were 262% higher than other areas of the city. No one notices this until people start finding their stolen cars inside the Adelman's lot.

The 10th ward alderman has gotten property tax breaks for Adelmans?

Only one person is charged with stealing one car?
