BoJ may extend deadline expand loan schemes next week

TOKYO: The Bank of Japan may next week decide to expand two loan schemes aimed at encouraging commercial banks to lend more and extend them beyond their current March expiry date, sources familiar with the central bank's thinking said.

Many BoJ officials feel that the programmes ought to be continued beyond March. But there is no consensus yet on details such as how long they should be extended for or by how much they should be increased, the sources said on condition of anonymity.

If the nine board members can reach agreement, the BOJ may announce a decision next week, the sources said.

If preparations take more time, the decision may be delayed until next month, they added.

"There seems to be decent demand among banks for the loans and if so, there is no point ending the programmes" when they expire in March, one of the sources said. Under its "quantitative and qualitative easing" programme, or QQE, the BoJ is buying government bonds and risky assets aggressively in a bid to double base money in the economy and achieve its 2 percent inflation target.

Looking for radio (car) repair hobbyist/shop

I have an early 1990s car with a radio that seems to be acting up. Or, the speakers need their amps looked.

I need someone that can bench-test both.

I tried Yelp and Google. Neither are helpful. I guess it is a dying craft.

Anyone know of a hobbyist or electronics shop in Northcenter?

  • SixtyTwoPercentWater Neighborhood Blogger

Thanks, Chris. I saw them as well. I will get out and start talking to people.

  • Ravens Yes.I can fix that.

You might be all wet on this one. I have replaced many car stereos for various reasons similar to yours. If hear any kind of noise from the speakers that means they are ok. Everything else is inside the stereo. I think a junk yard is your quickest & least expensive answer. They are fairly easy to remove. Hope that helps.

1142 W Irving Park Speed Camera

Is anyone else receiving suspicious tickets from this camera? I've not gotten 3 tickets from this camera over the span of 3 months. Let me tell you, I never speed through there. I always double check my speedometer before crossing onto the block that the cemetary is on. On top of that, It's almost impossible to be doing 11 over the speed limit through there on the way home from work during rush hour.

  • Cool, I'll make an inquiry at the office. I'm hoping they will tell me if there's been a recent influx of false positives from this camera.

Does anyone know any good traffic lawyers with experience fighting these? Is that possible?

A little bit ago, a man knocked on our door on the 4900 block of N Hoyne with a story that he'd been locked out of his apartment, left his keys & $$ inside, his girlfriend is at work until 7am...tall, caucasian, blonde, smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, gray sweatpants. We have reported it to police. Said his phone was out of juice but when we offered to charge it, it showed plenty of life. We didn't let him in but called a locksmith for him...locksmith has just called us back to say he didn't meet them at the address he indicated he lived and isn't answering the phone, so now we're pretty suspicious. Not sure what his intentions are, but something just feels wrong about his story and wanted to give folks the heads up in case he's up to no good. If you get a similar knock on your door, please alert 911 and probably best not to let him in.

  • Jane Spec North Center resident

Our dry cleaner on the corner of Irving Park and Hoyne has a notice up in their window to watch out for a blonde Caucasian male with the same sob story that everyone else has reported on. She fell for it. Let him use her phone and gave him a couple bucks for "cab fare" and he left. After he left she picked up the phone and hit redial and he had only dialed 3 numbers. She felt stupid for getting taken but at least something worse didn't happen.

We live near the corner of Montrose and Damen and had a man knock on our door last night around 5:00 pm with a similar story. He looked of eastern european descent (olive complexion)- hard to tell what color his hair was because he had a gray beanie on. Probably around 6' tall, 160-170 lbs, late 30's to early 40's, dark circles under his eyes. He was dressed well and said he lived across the street (we had never seen him) and needed a ride to Alexian Bros hospital in Schaumburg because his wife was in a car accident and she had all of his credit cards, money, etc. Some sob story and how he was "shaken up" - but he did not have a wedding ring on and my inner "alarm bells" were going off. We offered to call him a cab but he gave some push back, we said we were not going to give him a ride anywhere, but we gave him a $20 and he thanked us and left. I immediately called police and gave a description - but hope he was not casing our house or something and does not come back.

Chalanger For Alderman Pawar???!!???

I ask that people give the horn a rest when pulling through an alley, especially before the sun has even shown its face. Slowing down and looking is a great alternative to blasting your horn and making unnecessary noise.

Additionally, if a provider is in network, they are held to specific guidelines under their contracts with the insurance company. This includes what they're allowed to charge up front (prior to the claim being submitted), so it is very important to read your plan of benefits and ask questions when needed.

When you call to make an appointment ask the upfront if there's a facility fee or not. If in doubt get it in writing when you arrive.
This has been legit and under the radar for about the last seven or eight years. Because it is a revenue generator for the hospital, it has become more popular. As such, it has come on the radar of patients, insurance, and physicians who refer To other providers. Drs. don't want their patients getting double billed either. This was a cover article of medical economics last month. There's a good chance that charges Would be waived if you contest it with the hosp admin
I've been to Thorek alot and had great experiences.it was not sot great up until a few years ago. Most of the doctors are excellent, hard-working and dedicated -If you haven't been there recently you'd be surprised. The entire plant Has been renovated, Including the emergency room, laboratory, radiation oncology, MedSurg floors and outpatient OR facilities. There is an ophthalmologist and brand-new dental suite. There are several new physicians in the outpatient professional building which is connected-Check to see if their offices are independent with no facility fee or -other. Most of the nurses in the hospital are relatively new hires within the last five years and are young fresh and vibrant.
This is an interesting little community Hospital which has survived changing times for over 100 years -worth asking for a tour or just going over for lunch and walking around to get a feel for the place. It's definitely a convenient option for outpatient procedures and services. Easy free parking

Who wrote this tedious mess?

Where was that two-time Booker winner who gave us such spectacular novels as “Oscar and Lucinda” and “Jack Maggs”?

Readers may have trouble remembering the jacket copy, too, which describes “Amnesia” as a cerebral thriller involving cybercrime and international intrigue. That’s true for about 20 pages. Carey, a former advertising executive, knows the importance of a great hook, and the opening of “Amnesia” couldn’t be more relevant and exciting:

“It was a spring evening in Washington DC; a chilly autumn morning in Melbourne; it was exactly 22:00 Greenwich Mean Time when a wormCar entered the computerised control systems of countless Australian prisons and released the locks in many other places of incarceration, some of which the hacker could not have known existed.”

Because those computer systems had been designed by American firms, the worm instantly spreads through the United States, too, breaking open thousands of prisons, including secret black sites in [REDACTED] where the CIA keeps [REDACTED]. On computer screens across the world, the group behind this apocalyptic amnesty announces: “The corporation is under our control. The Angel declares you free.”

Chicago’s Lincoln Square will soon be the proud home of an exciting new Southern regional restaurant, Luella’s Southern Kitchen (4609 N. Lincoln Ave.; 773-961-8196) which will open on February 3, 2015. Luella’s will be a delight for Chicago’s many fans of Southern cuisine, who now won’t have to hop on an airplane to enjoy this iconic and varied American style of cooking.

Luella’s Southern Kitchen is the brainchild of chef/owner and Chicago native Darnell Reed who has built an impeccable culinary resume for the past 18 years. A graduate of Washburne Culinary Institute in Chicago, Reed began his professional career in 1997 at the Palmer House Hilton where he served as Restaurant Chef at the French Quarter and the Big Downtown. In 2005, he was promoted to Executive Sous Chef at the Embassy Suites Chicago Lakefront where he handled banquet functions for up to 700 people. In April 2007, Reed was promoted to the dual Executive Chef position at the Hilton of Oakbrook and Hilton Garden Inn of Oakbrook. In May of 2010, he accepted the Executive Sous Chef position at the Conrad Chicago Hotel and was promoted to Executive Chef in 2011.

Luella’s Southern Kitchen is named after Reed’s great-grandmother, Luella, whose delicious Southern recipes inspired him to pursue his passion for cooking as a career. Having earned his culinary stripes, he is ready to join the ranks of many of Chicago’s excellent chefs who march to their own entrepreneurial rhythm.

The restaurant is going to be casual and friendly, with a contemporary yet rustic feel and an emphasis on high quality dishes representing the many variations of regional Southern cuisine including both traditional and creative interpretations of Southern favorites from Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and the Carolinas.

Open: weekdays for lunch and dinner; Saturday and Sunday brunch and dinner until 10 pm. Ordering at counter and the food will be brought to their table. BYOB with no corkage fee.

  • BRB I love Albany Park

You can command a higher price if your food is high quality. Gather does this pretty well. There better be gold in that little mound of fish and grits :-)

  • I can't wait! I'm from the south and am more than willing to pay a decent amount for legit Southern cuisine, as that is something Chicago has little of. The chef's background is also appealing, so I look forward to him putting a creative spin on familiar dishes. If you don't want to pay $5 for 3 delicious beignets, no one is stopping you from heading over to Cafe Selmarie for a $5 brownie:)

Shortly after being elected, Pawar clarified that he does not provide city services and went on to state that he is a “legislator”. (1) City Council meetings are very important for any legislator, but just as important are committee meetings, where legislation is crafted, debated, amended, discussed and presented to the public.

A recent study conducted by, Chicago Tonight, indicates that Pawar rarely attends committee meetings that he is assigned to, with an attendance rate of 20%. (2) Being a self proclaimed legislator, Pawar knows, or should know, how important attendance at these meetings really is. Instead, when questioned about his chronic absenteeism, Pawar said that he is busy providing constituent services (2), even though he previously described the belief that alderman provide services as a “myth” (1). Other aldermen provide constituent services, all the while, still attending committee meetings.

In May of this year, Pawar was quoted as saying: It’s still a 16 hour day. I’ll be up at 5:30 or 6am, go for a run, then have some breakfast and go to work at Northwestern. After work, I’ll meet with constituents, elected officials, community groups.” (see the below posted images of “Longshot Alderman not shying away from City’s problems” from Inside Booster, authored by Pat Butler dated May 9, 2012)

So, the alderman does not provide services because he is a legislator. When asked why he is not fulfilling his duties as a legislator, he is busy providing services and has put legislating on the back burner. Maybe the real reason for the degradation of services and the abhorrent attendance record is the fact that the alderman is too busy working at Northwestern.

Second, Fiedler doesn't have the education or experience to be alderman. Third, Fiedler lives in the 40th ward and can't even vote for himself. Fourth, his campaign is anti woman and under the surface racist and he's surrounded himself with deez dem dos. From the neighborhood and for the neighborhood? Fiedler reports having over a dozen addresses in ten years...

Your guy would have been more credible if he'd stuck to a real platform.

Oh and I know how many people attended the press conference...6 people...what a majority...did anyone even cover it?
