Request a Traders Joes in the West Loop

I would love to have a Trader Joes in the West Loop. With all the construction going on, I would think they would have enough people to support it.

Over the years I have requested that they put one in, but was hoping others could also request.

Here is the link that you could fill out if you would like one around here:

http://www.traderjoes.com/contact-us/location-request

In the comments put in west loop/near west side/greektown, etc.

Thanks!

But one thing that plays against the West Loop is the lack of density. People may personally like or dislike tall towers and density, but from TJ's point of view, they want in a very dense area where they'll have a geographically dedicated customer base right there.

Think about some of the other locations, like Clybourn, on the one in Oak Park where they have a tower above....the South Loop one, which is near dozens of tall residential buildings....and so on.

West Loop residents and community organizations have fought density. (I am not saying this is good or bad - people have various opinions on it, but pushback HAS happened.)

The best place for a potential TJ's would have been in the tower where Dominick's was and where Whole Foods is now going to open (next month, from what I've heard). I'm glad WF is going there, but that might have been better as a TJ's spot, since right now, in TJ's eyes, there's probably not another West Loop space that makes sense for them.

We do have a few new towers that went up or are going up, so maybe one will come in the next few years....but that's what they're looking for, for sure.

(I wish the new building near the Target was a TJ's - that would be so convenient.)

  • Thanks PJChgo...I do think the old Dominicks would have been much more conducive as a TJs. About the size that they are..where a WF's seems to be bigger than that space.

But you are probably right about the density. I am one that isn't in favor of the tall buildings. So I guess I can't have it both ways.

TJs can always go into the Artista Foods space on May..wonder how they stay in business?

Unless we hear from an owner by Sunday, we are taking him to PAWS for neuter/deworming/vaccinations. We will be keeping him until he finds a home but I can't imagine he wandered very far - he seems a little prissy and spoiled and wouldn't go too far from home! Please message me!!
