No of these people deserve my Vote

I hope I'm not the only one who is completely disgusted with the political commercials right now! I wouldn't vote for anyone with one of these negative, slanderous commercials. Tell me what qualities you have for the job. Why I should vote for you without slandering the other person. If even a shred of the governer candidate's commercials is to be believed both deserve to be investigated and arrested. As for alderman candidate's I should be tripping over you in my neighborhood not just when it time for my vote. The same goes for the Mayor. I feel so discouraged!

Not the one who just manages to show up for every feel-good photo op, when he had nothing to do with the event being featured.

"As for alderman candidate's I should be tripping over you in my neighborhood not just when it time for my vote"

It is discouraging that the Aldermanic and Mayoral vote isn't until the end of February and not on the same day as the Gubernatorial and Cook County elections. I've been told this is an intentional scheduling to suppress voter turn out. I've not confirmed that for myself but the logic holds. Low turn-out favors the incumbent and incumbents schedule the elections.

Either way, it is because of the split election schedule and the later petition filing date that Aldermanic and Mayoral are not yet openly campaigning. The major local push will begin after November 4, 2014, Gubernatorial and Cook County election day.

City candidates are traditionally encouraged not to hang signs and kiss babies until after the State and County election. This is so that voters will not be confused about who is on what ballot or what day of voting.

In my opinion it is confusing and obnoxious but that's Illinois politics for you.

Maureen Sullivan's Palmisano Park Council Wins Award

Congratulations to Maureen, Rob and Dan on winning the annual "Volunteers in the Parks" award from Friends of the Parks.

http://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20141013/bridgeport/palmisano-park-advisory-council-wins-city-award

I don't serve on the park advisory council but have had the privilege of volunteering for the Bridgeport Clean and Green and Bridgeport Air and Water Show over the last few years. These events have given me the opportunity to work closely with Maureen Sullivan and learn from her the true meaning of community spirit. Her resourcefulness and ability to bring businesses, community groups and individuals together for a common purpose is exactly why I want her to be our next alderman.

Rob and Dan are both pretty great, too :) Congratulations to all!

  • Thanks Rene!
The PAC has great ideas for the park. And, while I know that Rob & I are proud to be recognized by Friends of The Park, Maureen is the real driving force of the council. She has put in a lot of her very-limited free time to make events at Palmisano great. She doesn't give up. Having worked with her on numerous projects over the last few years I think Maureen will make a good Alderman.

Better Education

an elected school board would help your child get a better education. the un-elected board appointed by our mayor only care about getting big contracts, for millions of dollars. For them it is only about the money, and it flowing to their circles. they have no idea what goes on in the classroom. nor do they care. for profit education is not the answer.

  • Rosario Wife,Mother, Friend!!!

I agree, I was reading the bio's online, only one is/was a teacher, or principal. I want a board oF education, that represents the people who are using the Chicago public schools, former teachers, parents, former students principals. Not former bankers and politicians! Schools are not businesses, maybe that what is going wrong

  • billywood 5500s ashland hope&peace

Government ,especially education should never be run like business. Cronyism is corruption and this city is overflowing with scams to cheat the good folks. Tax the rich and make them pay fair wages then watch the corruption wither under the strain.

vote for new leadership

If you're tired of the speed limit and red light cameras, paying outrageous prices to park your car on our public streets, just so private contractors can rake in truck loads of money and your elected representatives line their pockets with gold, vote for someone new. Call your alderman and ask him if he has ever, ever voted against against the mayor.

  • Pete DeMay A McKinley Park parent and candidate for alderman

You are right Stanley. I was proud to sign the pledge to eliminate speed and red light cameras and I challenge George Cardenas to do the same. Across the 12th Ward, people are fed up with the lack of attention and transparency and want change. Please give me a call at 773-791-1428 or email at petedemay@gmail.com so we can set up a time to sit down and talk.
