RCN v Comcast

Empty nesters for over a year...guess the kids are really "off the books" so we are moving from the suburbs to Old Town! My wife and I both work from home, so dependable internet is important as is a good HD cable TV service.

Comments/Recommendations?

Thanks!
Dennis

  • Comcast - ugh. We still have it, but our Internet servic is slow or drops periodically. We've had them out to check everything and they replaced one wire (took over a week to get someone out). They've talked us through resetting everything so often, we can do it ourselves. Frustrating, but we suck it up because too lazy to go through the steps to change. DVR recordings have been good.

  • RCN is annoying but nothing compared to the evil that is Comcast.

Parking on N. North Park Ave. (south of North Ave.)

If you haven't been down this street in awhile, we are in the midst of construction hell. It seems like every other house is being renovated and our long-empty lots are being built upon. I'm psyched about the growth (and certainly hope my property values reflect the new building), but parking has been a nightmare. I have to give a shout-out to David Ramos, who works with Ald. Burnett's office. He has been amazing in staying on the illegal parking...

I'm psyched about the growth (and certainly hope my property values reflect the new building), but parking has been a nightmare. I have to give a shout-out to David Ramos, who works with Ald. Burnett's office. He has been amazing in staying on the illegal parking issues and construction companies who put up barriers overnight so they can have the space in the morning. Uh, FYI, not only is that just selfish, it's also illegal. We have been promised repaving once the construction is done. Now, if we can only get rid of the rats....
