  • Question -- Is there a plan for an inside market for the winter? Is the Portage an option?

  • Merril Jefferson Park Sunday Market manager

I understand that the folks from the Portage market are planning to be in the theater again this year. Information should be up in their website soon.

Speed Camera

I just got a notice of a speeding ticket. Never knew that a camera existed at 5739 N. Northwest Highway.
Be careful at this location.

  • JoeRavo Lifelong CLVN

Yes Nick, the speed cameras also flash.

  • Marly n Me Neighborhood Watch Dog

I also received a warning last week. I never saw a flash. I knew about the one down NW Hway, closer to Mo Dailey's, but never noticed the one across the street from the Storage Place. They only give warnings the first month, then they issue tickets. I doubt even if O'C goes away they will ever take them down, it's a good money maker for the city. And it does make you slow down and watch for children.

Woman going door to door

A young African American woman rang my door bell around 5:30 today. She was wearing a red poncho. I'm not sure what she wanted. I don't open my door to strangers.

  • Adults also dress up for Halloween not just the kids!

  • Yes I answer the door oh Halloween. That doesn't have anything to do with my original post.

Petsmart 6 corners

Would like to know 1. Is there a estimated opening and completion date for the petsmart next to jewel? 2. If petsmart already has the property why the for lease sign is still in the window? Reason I ask 2 is when I called a few weeks ago they said property was still available.

6 corners Petsmart?

For some time they have been talking and from what I understand planning for a Petsmart next to jewel by 6 corners. My question is two part. 1. When is the estimated completion/opening dates? 2. If Petsmart already has the spot why is there still a for lease sign in the window?

  • I'm also very curious as to a timeline for opening.

  • pattymelt is mostly in charge

The universe was put on hold while the Chipotle was being built. Now that it is open, I am sure this will move forward.

Mayor Emanuel tours Taft HS

Taft has undergone $18.2 million in improvements. Alderman Mary O'Connor, State Senator John Mulroe and Principal Mark Grishaber accompanied the mayor on the Aug. 26 tour. Taft senior Gladys Recalde introduced the mayor at a news conference at the school.

  • Big Oaks Big Oaks resident since 1979

It's nice to see the mayor up here on the far northwest side. If he even dreams of a second term he needs to be seen and heard on the south side AND the north side. There are issues all over the city. It's also great that Taft H.S. is getting it's due. That building has been put on the back burner for decades.

  • Good to see Taft getting some well needed repairs. The new windows look great.

  • robin in WRP misanthrope

I knew Mr. Grishaber at Whitney (as a parent while he was assistant principal, not while he was a student); he is fantastic, and Taft is lucky to have him.
