Christmas tree

Do you get a real tree or do you use a fake one? I myself have a fake tree. I had a real tree once. Not my thing. I hate it when people have a real tree and just toss it to the curb when the holidays are over. They get the tree home but they can't take it to a park to recycle it.

Dog walker recommendation?

Good morning ... wondering if anyone can recommend a reliable company or trustworthy high school student to contract for dog walking in Norwood Park East. We don't need anything on a regular basis, just the occasional weekday evening or weekend afternoon when possible. Thank you!

  • Liz the owner of lizzies dog walkers in great! She lives in re portage park neighborhood, but services most of the Chicagoland area and some suburbs. She'll work you with on times, walk lengths and pricing. You can google lizzies dog walkers and her cell number will come up. They get a 5 star reccomendation from me, you can tell her Kate, mentioned her to you on EB.

Mail Deilvery Issues...AGAIN!!

I haven't received mail since Wednesday November 26th. I called the Norwood Park Post Office and the person on the phone said that she said that she found it " Hard to believe". So I called the customer relations number and filed a complaint. I haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else been having this problem??

  • I'm sorry you're going through this, but I think you should talk to the mail carrier and ask if they know what's going on.

  • radiochck Trying to escape

Thanks everyone! I called again and they told me to talk to the carrier. Of course, they could have told me that the first time. But it turned out that the bulidings mailbox was broken. I think a notice would have nice though.

Greetings Neighbors! The FAiR Coalition invites you to meet the Chicago Mayoral Candidates on Wednesday, Dec 3. Greetings Neighbors! The FAiR Coalition invites you to meet the Chicago Mayoral Candidates on Wednesday, Dec 3. The meeting is open to FAiR members and those interested in finding solutions to the massive increase in planes, noise and pollution at O'Hare and Midway. Remember the changes at both airports were done without any real community input.

The next FAiR general meeting is on Wednesday, 12/3 from 7-9pm at the VFW Hall at 10 W. Higgins in Park Ridge. Please RSVP/let us know if you are coming to info@fairchicago.org or via the FAiR Website www.fairchicago.org using the "Contact Us" link.

As part of the meeting, you will have a chance to meet in person, hear from and ask questions of several of the Chicago Mayoral candidates. Confirmed to be there so far are Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia and Alderman Bob Fioretti. All Mayoral candidates including Mayor Emanuel have been invited. This will be the 11th request sent to Mayor Emanuel to meet with FAiR. He has ignored, dismissed and not responded to the previous 10 requests.

For all FAiR members whether you live in Chicago or you live outside of Chicago, it is no overstatement to say that this next FAiR meeting is the single most important gathering we have had and one that you must attend. Why?

Simply, the solutions FAiR seeks fly right through the Mayor's office. The Chicago Mayor owns and controls the airports serving the entire region, O'Hare and Midway, and the Mayor is the last and only missing piece at the table FAiR has created. With the right Mayor or the current Mayor doing the right thing, the success we seek is well within our reach. You can see why it is critical you attend.

One final item, FAiR does not endorse candidates for elected office. We present candidates to the membership to decide who is most closely aligned with solutions to the massive increase in planes, noise and pollution we are all experiencing.

  • Hello Jac,

Any chance of getting a follow up report of the meeting for those whose old bones don't like getting out in this cold weather?

    Dennis

  • pattymelt is mostly in charge

@Dennis: If you think the issue is important, you really should try to attend. If the turnout is poor, the candidates will think most people in the neighborhood do not think the airplane noise is a big deal.

Users on everyblock

neighbors, without sparking to much debate I am curious your views on something. Lots of accusations by many about others having multiple names, then there are the opinions that are often strong and heated by folks who clearly want to remain hidden. These opinions as you know can be everything from neighborhood issues to business reviews. What's your thoughts on that issue? Should EB revamp and require neighbors to display who they are? Just general thoughts and I'm sincerely curious what you all think on the subject

  • Dennis 25 year Jefferson Park resident

So Joanie, are you saying 2 alderman are cyber stalking you?

  • joanie 20+ year Resident of Jefferson Park

No that isn't what I said nor inferred. I'm someone who actually lives in the community and they know me. They're decent family men and well known because of their positions on the City Council.
