Trim Carpenter?

I had a water leak (ugh) through the top of my sliding glass door and I need to find a carpenter (a trim carpenter, I think) to replace the water damaged wood around the top and side of the window frame. Has anyone had this type of work done who can recommend a service provider? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  • You might give TrimLogic a call. They specialize in custom trim work. Might be more specialized than what you need, but thought you might want to take a look.

  • Thanks to all for the suggestions! FYI I called Tom but he told me he doesn't do trim work. I called Salvador at JD construction and he just finished up the work- highly recommend, reasonable prices, super friendly and seems to have a lot of knowledge about a variety of projects.

Howe St and Willow

I was on a bike riding home between 10 and 10:15 last night and heard a loud bang (I don't think gun shot loud, something else). But anyways I was heading east on Willow and just passing Howe St and saw three teenagers (African American) running out of the Alley (1st alley north of Willow) on Howe St. (west side of Howe) and turn south running towards me. I wasn't sure what the bang was so I high tailed it out of there. I am trying to figure out if anything was reported as to what happened? I heard sirens right after so I am figuring something was.

Please don't tag Abe Lincoln

Hopefully those who actually tagged the Abe Lincoln statue in south Lincoln Park will read this and see that your tags on awesome works of art don't make you look good. I'm actually a huge fan of graffiti and that was really disappointing to see you guys blowing up Honest Abe's peaceful place of contemplation. The city cleaned it all off super quickly. Tag something else but leave the city's works of art alone.

anyone have free moving boxes?

Does anyone in the Lincoln Park or near areas have extra boxes laying around that I could have for free? I can pick them up!

  • Call Trader Joes. They get big boxes in the morning and late evening.

  • Liquor stores also have plenty to give away, though they're on the smaller side. Scouring the alleys are the best way to find large moving boxes and people pack them up quite well.
