Stealth mosquito spraying tonite

2 trucks just came by spraying for mosquitos. They sprayed so much you could see the cloud of vapor and the smell is still lingering in the house. I would have closed doors and windows if we had notice.
No notice from the Alderman and nothing on the city's website.

I believe our Alderman need to act like a mayor of their ward. They should always be accessible to our residents and be focused on promoting new business and supporting our current businesses. More businesses will provide residents what they need and keep our money in the community. It will also bring non-residents here to spend money. This is what’s going to get us the money for services we need. Continually taxing our residents will only fuel the mass exodus we are already seeing. If we want an Alderman who will entrench themselves in the day-to-day operation of the ward office and focus all their efforts on trying to provide services on a limited budget, we should just promote our superintendent and save the $5+ million.
If there’s one thing you should know about me it’s that I don’t claim to have all the answers. I am and always will be open to change and new ideas. This is what has gotten me where I am today. As Alderman, I will bring every issue back to my residents. I will create an on-line based forum where I can inform everyone what’s going on at city hall and what I’ve been asked to vote on. Community meetings are great but unfortunately only a small number of residents attend. No individual or small group should speak for the entire ward.

As for what’s sets me apart from the other candidates, I can’t say I haven’t met them. I will promise you this. I will always vote with the majority of my residents. I will never be a rubber stamp for this Mayor or any Mayor. I will always have my business and never need to vote or move to keep my job as Alderman. We just purchased our dream home and plan to raise our kids and spend the rest of our lives here. There’s no question where my heart lies.
I would love the opportunity to meet all of you personally. I’ve been out a few hours everyday meeting with residents. I’ve taken some time off from my business next month to spend even more time out in the ward. Please feel free to email me if you’d like to meet.

Metra - Hanson Park Station (safety)

I have always driven or used the CTA, but now I am going to start taking the Metra to work. The closest station to me is the Hanson Park station (5621 W. Armitage Ave. Chicago, IL).
For those of you in the area, is this station pretty safe or should I go to the Galewood or Mars Station instead? I was hoping to walk (instead of drive & park at further station).
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • I would go to the Galewood stop it is very close to the Hanson Park Station , it is closer to a main street, and more people around. The Hanson Park stop is in the middle of the back of factories and the back to the police station you would park along the tracks , in the winter months it is very dark. Galewood has a parking lot and it well lit at night . Mars is also a good stop with parking lot and well lit.

  • Elizabeth Ortiz Diaz paying attention

I have taken metra from there off and on for years. Ive never been afraid. The parking is free and plentiful. Every train doesn't stop there so there are usually people around waiting to get on or off, so not completely secluded.

Loking for a good acupuncturist

I'm looking for a good acupuncturist to help relieve some pain I'm experiencing.

Does anyone know someone good with an office in Galewood, Oak Park or River Forest?

Good new on North Avenue

The Village of Oak Park finally owns the long-abandoned eyesore at 6641 W. North. If they can't sell it, they'll probably tear it down.

PNC Bank will soon be moving into the long-vacant building at 6621 W. North Ave. in Oak Park. I saw a lot of work on the building last week.

Reply to Looking for Accupunturist

I recommend Tricia Miller at Serenity Acupuncture in Oak Park. The office is right across from the Jewel on Madison St. She is excellent. Here is their website.
