Cable options in 60631?

Good afternoon ... my wife and I are moving to Norwood Park and I was disappointed to learn we won't be able to bring our RCN Cable and Internet service with us. A friend nearby in Park Ridge recommended WOW but they also don't serve 60631. Is Comcast the ONLY non-dish provider in the area? If not, I'd love others' recommendations. Thank you!!

  • Thanks for the advice, new neighbors!

My only concern with cutting cable completely is the only thing we consistently watch live is sports and I'm not convinced we'd get everything we're looking for from an over-the-air HD signal. Again, I appreciate the feedback.

  • We have direct tv for over 12 years and I would never get Comcast, we love it.

Sears won't survive past 2016?

Here is an excerpt from yesterday's article in Crain's Chicago

Fitch Ratings today downgraded Sears Holdings Corp.'s credit rating to CC from CCC, a move driven by the retailer's continuing decline in profitability and the rate at which it's burning through cash. The agency warned that Sears may not have enough funding to support operations beyond 2016.

If Sears goes down, what will happen to Six Corners? I don't love the big ugly building and rarely shop at Sears, but it'll be exponentially worse if the store closes.

  • Lucas Museum Annex!

  • pattymelt is mostly in charge

We could preserve the Sears as it is and charge money to enter the time capsule.

Petsmart 6 corners

Would like to know 1. Is there a estimated opening and completion date for the petsmart next to jewel? 2. If petsmart already has the property why the for lease sign is still in the window? Reason I ask 2 is when I called a few weeks ago they said property was still available.

6 corners Petsmart?

For some time they have been talking and from what I understand planning for a Petsmart next to jewel by 6 corners. My question is two part. 1. When is the estimated completion/opening dates? 2. If Petsmart already has the spot why is there still a for lease sign in the window?

  • I'm also very curious as to a timeline for opening.

  • pattymelt is mostly in charge

The universe was put on hold while the Chipotle was being built. Now that it is open, I am sure this will move forward.

Animals going through the garbage cans

Does anyone have a solution to stop the animals, mostly raccoons, from going through the garbage cans? They tear threw the bags to get the food scraps. I've tried bungee cords and bricks but the garbage men throw them away. The alderman's office is useless because they suggest the same things I've been doing. When I tell the office that the garbage men throw my cords and bricks away they don't answer.

  • robin in WRP misanthrope

    Human urine helps...

  • PRW EP since 1990

Try peppermint oil; the odor is extremely offensive to their senses which are sharper than ours or remove your cords and bricks the morning of garbage day, replace at days end once they’ve emptied.
It really stinks, to put it mildly, that you take the proper measures with bungee cords and heavy bricks only to have others disregard your care. You were/are doing the right thing.
