Explosion?

Hello,

Did anyone hear an a couple of explosions around 1:30 PM today and a really loud one around 4:30 PM? The second one shook my house. From what I can tell, they came from somewhere south of Bryn Mawr Ave.

  • I heard three at 1:30 and the loud one at 4:30. Seemed like they came from south of Bryn Mawr and west of Kenneth.

Does anyone have a picture of the park at Peterson/Caldwell and Edens from the 1970's? Growing up there I loved the huge slide/robot structure.

Renegotiate the overinflated menu pricing for public goods and services. How can a sidewalk by a cemetery cost $65,000? Why do we need 3 garbage men to work the truck when the recycling truck uses one? How come we have one worker do the corner sidewalks while two workers are watching? Why is it that every time I walk by Hiawattha Park's playlot, the workers putting it together are sitting around or not there at all? We need to take the inefficiencies out of the budget. That is the how.

If we provide quality education and jobs for our people, we will not need to prosecute and incarcerate them. It is a swap in a big way. That is how.

Chopin Plaza, not Square

front page news in this week's Northwest Chicago Press - 39th Ward Alderman Margaret Laurino introduced an ordinance to name the traffic island at the juncture of Milwaukee, Elston and Melvina "Chopin Plaza." Nearby there's the Esquire Motel (where there was a fire this past April). The Press also reported that a spokesman from Laurino's office said the dedication will be in conjunction with a NEIU Chopin concert.

My family must move to Costa Rica in the Fall. Prior to committing to the move, I was careful to check the "whats and hows" surrounding taking my dogs via air. It never occurred to me that a bunny restriction would be my problem. I can't take Hershey on an international flight; he is only allowed on domestic flights.

I'm very sad over it all. Yes, it's just a rabbit, but he's a great guy. He's friendly (too friendly with dogs; runs towards them, not away)and playful. Please feel free to phone me at seven seven three two two six three zero zero two. I'm in no hurry to let him go as we don't relocate until September, but I must find him a home.

Rabbits are cute and fun and require a medium amount of care. They need their litter cleaned, and to have room to play twice a day at least. Hershey has a bi-level condo and a gated mini yard of his own in which to play. He needs petting and love.

I have visited Red Door bunny rescue but they're bursting at the seams. I even tried some Wisconsin rescues, but they're full too. Give me a call if you'd like to meet him.

  • I wish I could help you. Have you contacted any local veterinarians for suggestions? Animal House of Chicago on Lawrence, Best Friends, etc... Or maybe a teacher would like it for the classroom...(can rabbits be classroom pets anymore?) Just some ideas. I wish you and Hershey the best!

  • isis millward Living between Puerto Viejo and Logan Square

I think Hershey is a bit big for a classroom. I'll certainly try your suggestions.
