Aluminum Coating for Flat Roof

I have a 2007 new build (the standard issue brick rectangle) with a flat roof (that has what I believe is the original aluminum coating on the roof). I have started getting estimates for the application of a new layer of aluminum coating on the roof and the estimates ($1200+) strike me as a bit high for what I understand the service to entail (broom clean and application of one coat of aluminum coating). I would greatly appreciate thoughts on (1) how much this service should cost (Angie's List is not helping me here) and/or (2) whether most people just do this themselves. Thanks in advance!

Boots on Cars

I've notice a drastic increase in boots on cars in the past week. Does anyone know what caused this spike? A friend of mine got one and only had 1 outstanding ticket. Please be careful and pay your tickets

  • sos

City changed law a long time ago, it only takes one ticket to get a boot. the booters go in waves.

  • I just went to the City of Chicago website referring to the boot and it said 3 or more tickets. Where is the info regarding just one ticket? That is a shock. Thanks for the info...

Jerry Morrison the SEIU's CHIPOLCON discovered the Giant Peach was grown at James the 1%er's non-UFW orchard. It's obvious that the purpose of his post is to rally the masses to forcibly confiscate James' property & send him to the gulag. The orchard, & the Giant Peach will be a Gift to the proletariat.

Garage Break In

Just wanted to let others know in the neighborhood to be vigilant about keeping their garages secure. Last evening, our garage in the 2700 block of N. Wilton was broken into. It is believed that the suspect entered through an unlocked (or not completely shut door), stole property, and put the property in a waiting assistant's vehicle in the alley.

I have made a police report, but wanted to make others aware to be more careful.

Police - Belden/Clark

Driving north on Clark I saw 3 undercover police cars parked with their lights flashing at the intersection of Belden & Clark. One looked as though it had pulled over a CTA bus. Does anyone know what happened?

  • There was an undercover cop car blocking off traffic to Belden at Lincoln about a week ago. There was a trailer set up and it looked like they were filming some TV show on that stretch.

Trees chopped down

Trees are being taken down in the Fremont and Wisconsin area. Does anyone know why? I have not yet heard back from the Alderman's office.

  • robin in WRP misanthrope

If they are Ash trees, they probably have been infected with Emerald Ash Borer

  • Randi Doeker Environmental activist

That is happening elsewhere in the city too - all victims of the borer.

Restate Lisitngs

Why has Everyblock become a place for renting listing? this is not news and very annoying.

  • I am sure you can filter the listings. If you looked at what info your subscribed too

  • L

The issue is that people post their real estate listings under headings like Neighborhood News. If the posts were kept to a Real Estate section, that would be fine. But, someone would have to moderate, which isn't happening.

Does anyone know why there were police walking around the building at Lakeview and Wrightwood? They were pushing on the screens and using flashlights to look into windows. Watching from my apartment. It happened around 11pm. Didn't hear anything on the police scanner.
