Temps Rising in Traffic Hell?

As in many parts of Chicago, it seems more money, time, and attention has been invested into red-light cameras than has gone into synchronizing our traffic lights. Lincoln Park is no exception. If anyone knows specifics on traffic plans to accommodate this significant addition to our neighborhood, please let me know.

Recommendations for cleaning services?

I give up, I need a cleaning lady. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations to find a cleaning lady that will be the SAME person each time. I want to hire someone bi-weekly, and I want to hire a specific person, not a "Maids R Us" type company that would send whoever was on shift that day. Do you have a great cleaning lady? If yes, how did you find her? Is your great cleaning lady possibly taking new clients? (I have asked 2 of my cousins who are extremely happy with the woman they employ; however, she is not taking any new clients at this time).

Thanks!!!!

  • Grace Housekeeper

I have many years of experience and many long time clients who would gladly provide referrals. I can provide you with a free estimate at your preferred date and time. Please feel free to call me at 773-858-0926. Look forward to hearing from you!

  • We have a cleaning lady who came highly recommended and has been with us for over a year. She comes on a weekly basis and is highly reliable. Not sure if you can send me a message privately through this site, but if so, I'd gladly put you in touch with her and/or see if she is taking on new clients. Simi

Closing founding site in Lincoln Park and expanding in Belmont Cragin

Chicago, IL – September 26, 2014
After more than 100 years in Lincoln Park, non-profit, Christopher House is moving out of its founding location at 2507 N Greenview Avenue. A little over a year ago, Christopher House opened a brand new family resource center and their first elementary school as they have expanded into Belmont Cragin on the city's far West side. They have also increased their presence in Uptown and Logan Square in response to the needs of Chicago's working poor.
“Christopher House is continuously working to provide a continuum of education to children and families in need. Christopher House has evolved over its 100 year history and this is one more milestone. It’s bittersweet. We are eager to be located in the high need communities on Chicago’s West and North sides and to bring our family of schools to the children and families in these neighborhoods, but I am also sad to leave the neighborhood that has supported us all these years” says Christopher House Chief Executive Officer, Lori Ann Baas.
Christopher House will continue to serve nearly 5,000 low-income children and families annually. The classrooms in Lincoln Park aren’t closing, just relocating to Belmont Cragin. The official close date of Christopher House’s Greenview location is September 30th. Christopher House however still encourages all those in Lincoln Park - and elsewhere - to continue to keep up to date with all of their news and events. Such as the Holiday Program, helping 600 Chicago families get through the holiday season. Find more information on the program, and all of Christopher House services, at christopherhouse.org.

Neighbor pouring bleach on grass

Hi! There's a crazy woman in my neighborhood who yells out her window if your dog pees on the lawn of her building. I witnessed her pouring bleach all over the lawn tonight after she yelled at me. Is this legal? Can't she be harming the animals? It's a condo building, so I can't contact her landlord. She lives in the building that the dentist office is in on the 1700 block of Sheffield, so beware.

Wine Bar

I am looking for a good wine bar in Lincoln Park or Lakeview to host a get together of 25 or so people during a weeknight, any ideas?

  • Webster's Wine Bar would have been a good choice, but they've moved to Logan Square, if that's an acceptable alternative. Coppervine is a restaurant at 1962 N. Halsted, however they focus on pairing of food with specific wines/drinks. Might be a fun spin.

  • I've heard that City Winery hosts private wine tasting events.
