Alderman Michael Zalewski's intimidation begins

Source: Anna Goral - Facebook

The same day I have placed my political sign on the lawn next to my building it was taken down and I got ticketed by Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation.
(photo 1 and 2)

I just wonder if Alderman Zalewski got his ticket since his signs have been on city property (57th & Central) since last Monday, and they are still there today.
(photo 2 and 4)

The office of Chicago Department of Street and Sanitations is only 2 blocks away from where Zalewski’s signs are, so they must have seen them…

Anyone know where I could get a gram of kush? Then we can head over to my HQ and spark up so you all can stop crying like little babies.

  • Ask Zalewski.

Fioretti Rolls Out TIF Platform, Blasts Marriott Hotel TIF Project

Chicago mayoral candidate and progressive Ald. Bob Fioretti (2nd) is putting a spotlight on the controversial, mayor-backed $55 million tax increment financing (TIF) project for a new Marriott hotel near McCormick Place.

Aldermanic candidates and members of the Bridgeport Alliance, Pilsen Alliance, Prairie District Neighborhood Watch and Reclaim Chicago joined Fioretti and fellow progressive Ald. Scott Waguespack (32nd) for a Wednesday morning press conference near the corner of Cermak Road and Prairie Avenue to "denounce the $55 million in TIF money given to Marriott Corporation for a hotel and complex near McCormick Place," according to a release....

Recognized this cat?

This cat is looking for it's home and is lost wandering outside. It would like to find its way home, or is looking for a foster home before winter arrives.

Not sure of the gender. Very passionate and affectionate, loves to be pet.

  • Hi Citizen,

Thanks for the explanation. If wet food works for luring the cat, and the area where he was last seen is known, has anyone considered setting a trap? Shelters loan humane traps to catch cats. The temperature is going to drop to near freezing by the weekend.

  • UPDATE on Kisses ....

He has returned to his owner after a 3.2 mile trip.

    All is well.

Thank you everyone for keeping an eye open.

Martin Arteaga Talks Development for the 23rd Ward!

Let's talk development. Let's talk University Village. Do you remember when Maxwell Street was much rougher and grittier than it is today? Let's talk development. Let's talk University Village. Do you remember when Maxwell Street was much rougher and grittier than it is today? I can remember and I am sure you do, too, because it was not very long ago. I spent time at UIC and I was able to play a key role in that community center development. The result was a successful redevelopment and the creation of the popular and much-patronized University Village. Residents and tourists no longer have to tolerate the grit, the abandoned buildings and the feeling of hopelessness that those things bring. Residents, tourists, students, passersby, and all can now enjoy walking, jogging, biking, and patronizing the safe and vibrant streets of University Village. This is a perfect example of how valuable resources can invested intelligently into the community so that EVERYBODY WINS.

To revitalize the 23rd Ward, we need community development and community outreach experience and HANDS ON LEADERSHIP. Throughout the ward we see vacant lots and abandoned buildings that are vandalized and underutilized. Let's take matters into our own hands. Let's revitalize the 23rd Ward. I'm ready and I'm up to the challenge. The time for change is now! We need to revitalize the Archer Avenue Business District and redevelop the area near Midway Airport. We need more business and jobs. This is what I will fight for as your next 23rd Ward Alderman.
