Radius of a No Loitering sign..

I need to put up a No Loitering sign on my fence. Does anyone have any experience they can share? Can they just cross the street and be cleared from the sign violation? I've asked these guy's to find another place to sit around and now since they have absolutely nothing better to do. .. they actually PURPOSELY make it a point be there when I get home from work to taunt me and my family...has anyone ever had success getting their loiter's arrested?

This is what I have been told at CAPS meetings: If there is a notorious loitering problem, the police can declare that corner/area a hot spot. Once it is declared a hot spot, they can drive up, inform the loiterers that it has been declared a hot spot and asked them to disperse. If the loiterers return within a short period of time (like a couple of hours or so), the police can arrest them. I am not sure if I got all the details right, but I would suggest to go to your local caps meeting, talk to the officers and asked about the hot spot details.

In East side and North side neighborhoods kids are safe enough that they can walk to/from school safely. It is only in neighborhoods where policing is poor that parent's have to walk their kids to school because of the crime/gang/drug problems.

This is a policing issue not a good parenting issue. Why should parents in our neighborhood have to walk the kids when parents in other neighborhoods don't even have to worry that something might happen to their kids.

I am not going to let my neighbors take the brunt of blame for bad things happening here. There is plenty to go around for everyone. If everyone just did a little more to care and learn the right moves...we could have better progress.

Currently there are very few that go to the records, look, study, make a plan...and get positive things to happen.

So who is the problem? The liquor seller or the liquor user? The drug seller or the drug user? Racism is a bad thing all the way around.

There would be NO STORES at all here if some one didn't come and open a business. Blacks don't open business, whites don't open business...who is left? Some immigrant that had a harder time in the country they left that we bombed...than they have dealing with gang/drug people in our neighborhood.

Remember...the cost of government spending by city hall is in the billions...maybe 6 billion. Where is our fair share? Where are the jobs? Where is the Safety? Where is the GOOD education for our kids...Where is the economic development?

We didn't get our share. Who didn't give it to us...what color were they? What color were the politicians?

A small nobody store owner in our neighborhood didn't deprive us of anything. It was our government that failed us; that is who to blame.

Most importantly, the girl was able to escape! That's an answer to prayer!

Pittbull attack

Walking my dogs today was the third time this month I've had a pittbull charge and threaten the safety of my pups.

Keep dogs on leashes and report those who do not.
The fine is $400.

Prayer Vigils against violence at Crystal & Keeler

Hi all, about fifty neighbors and supporters gathered at Crystal & Keeler for a prayer vigil this past Wednesday, the one before that, and the one before that! Alderman Emma Mitts came out to show her support, and DNA Info covered the vigil: http://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20140821/west-humboldt-park/humboldt-park-elders-new-neighbors-mourn-after-11-murders-2014.

We are looking for a choir to join us next week! Please contact me if you think you might be able to lend your support.

A new facebook page was created as a brand new forum to continue a long history of community organizing in the neighborhood: https://www.facebook.com/4100CrystalBlockClub
