Do you know of a good pest control exterminator?

Hi, does any one know of a good/ affortable pest control exterminator??. I have problems with small rodents in my back yard and the alley . In recent days they have been getting inside the house. I have been catching some using glue traps but they keep on comming. I made a report with the city but dont know if or when they will come to exterminate.

  • Get your neighbors to call 311 also. Rats in the alley is a city of Chicago issue. Inspect your foundation for any cracks or holes. If you don't like living with poison, course steel wool works as a temporary filler.

The best way to scare off rats from your property is to get some cats in your backyard. They will hunt all the rodents. There is a program called Community Cats/Cats at work at Tree House Humane Society (a shelter) that if requested they can relocate a couple of feral cats onto your property. Another option can be to start feeding the stray/feral cats in your area in the alley or in your backyard. Fed cats will still hunt rodents because that is their natural instinct. The cats in your alley can be fixed through TNR (Trap Neuter Release) at Tree House clinic for free if you live in 60639 and some other area codes. Trap can be borrowed at no charge at Tree House. So, you don't have to worry about them multiplying. You can also place a couple of insulated shelters (can be purchased at Tree House or you can make them yourself) on your property to keep the cats warm in winter. My neighbor has done this and has seen a decrease in rodent population. Cats cause no harm to the environment and people as to compare to rat poison.
