The Riot Fest!?!?

My mom is 70 years old and it sucks she can't enjoy the park she pays so much property taxes for!!! I guess it's the hell with Latinos!!! And I like to know why all Puerto Rican festivals don't have a liquor license but the Riot fest did?!?! Is it cause it's mostly whites attending?!? Just wondering?!?!?

  • MakeChicagoSafe Please keep our Chicago Safe

Tanja D- As I mentioned before there is no benefit to us at all from the Riot Fest. Fortunately we have worked hard generation after generation to have what we do and we don't look for handouts. Its hard for me to sympathize with anyone that doesn't work for their dreams. Absolutely nothing is out of anyone's reach, this is America sweetie. And you might want to look up the first amendment.

  • what???? What does the first ammendment have to do with this? Trust me…I've worked for my dreams as did my parents who were immigrants to this country.
Yes, this is America and we are melting pot of many cultures, nationalities and points of view. This is what makes us great.

Home Alarm System

We have had an alarm system hard wired in since we moved into our home 8 years ago.We recently began having problems with it and have been advised it is due to the UVerse system we now have. We are trying to decide whether to go with a wireless alarm system or change over the wiring to accommodate UVerse . Has anyone else gone through this and what did you decide? We are leaning towards wireless as it seems that technology changes so fast that it might be the best but I worry about other snags with a wireless system.

I have the adt in my home. The thing is you have to do what you think & feel is best for the safety of your family. Just trust in the man above he will help you make the right decision. I wish you the best.

  • I have wireless system and it is definitely the way to go.let me know if you need more info.

Alderman for 36th Ward

Can someone out there explain if the Hermosa area has been remapped? Not sure who is our alderman and who is running.

Knowledge is power! I wouldn't say "muddy".

Again, I live south of Fullerton on Keystone. I am not in the 36th ward... I was in the 31st ward and now I'm in the 35th ward (Rey Colon... for now). Hermosa Park now overlaps into 4 wards.... it's a square mile and has that many alderman. It had...

Hermosa Park now overlaps into 4 wards.... it's a square mile and has that many alderman. It had 2 before the remap. If you follow the "77 community" areas of Chicago, which lumps Hermosa Park, Kelvyn Park, and Belmont Gardens together, then the Hermosa community area is in 5 wards now. There is NO alderman of Hermosa, there are several, I think it's misleading to keep showing the 36th ward map when even after the remap the majority of people in Hermosa live in the 31st ward. You should be directing potential voters here

Hermosa

Contemplating a move west. Fullerton/Pulaski. Southwest of Healy Metra. Thoughts?

  • spidershrek Down the block and up the street

    Mark,

Did you ever move to Hermosa? If so, how has it worked out for you?

  • That didn't work out. We found a house in Cragin, just west of Hermosa. Subsequently my in laws ended up in Hermosa on Lowell and that seems to be working out great.
