Possible Burglars are casing our homes.

Please be aware that 3 young men in hoodies with scarves over their faces and sometimes on bikes are looking for a home to break into. They have been seen in two backyards already and were in the 7200 block of Crandon yesterday. Please be aware of any suspicious activity and call the police.

  • Gwen Barnes Robinson South Shore resident, Real Estate Broker

I'm on 72nd and Oglesby. I've been looking out for them but we have a lot of dogs on our block. Thanks for the idea, I'll keep my phone near in case I see something.

I'm sick of these young men thinking that it's ok to break into our homes and steal what so many of us have worked hard for.

not a fan of the left-leaning bias in PBS documentaries such as this one. but if there's nothing else good on TV this is ok to watch.

  • Thanks for posting this article D.J. I too have watched every episode of this excellent series. ctscts and Kristen L., I agree with your series comments.

Garbage along South Shore Rail Road Tracks

Is everyone sick and tired of seeing all the debris along the South Shore Rail Road Tracks? I know I am. This really reflects upon our neighborhood. This is especially visible along Exchange Ave. A big mess in front of Miska's liquor store. Not sure if the South Shore line or the Alderman's Office is responsible for cleaning this up or if some of the stores along Exchange should be socially responsible for cleaning up after their patrons. Pass this along if you feel the same way I do.

  • The last few CAPS meetings I attended there was a Metra patrolman also in attendance that covers this area. The last few CAPS meetings I attended there was a Metra patrolman also in attendance that covers this area. After receiving numerous complaints from passengers concerning loitering,he was very adamant about removing/arresting repeated loiterers. Sometimes, this is how littering starts. I'm not sure if this is a Metra police issue, but they may be able to issue tickets while monitoring the area closer or even direct you to the appropriate department that handles such complaints. The Metra Police number is 312-322-2800. It makes no sense to litter, especially since there is at least 1 trash can on every corner on Exchange.

  • Keith H. South Shore resident

I'm sick of it. People tend to be more comfortable littering when there is already trash on the ground. If the tracks are cleaned consistently, people will actually litter less often.
