Chuy says "he knows violence"in new debate

He should, his son is a self admitted gang member!

  • Bger East Village neighbor

    Robrob
I know you are referring to Mikeg but the way it's written sounds like I'm your neighbor which I am not. Look I have a really horrible neighbor which I wish would go away. But I'd never say or write that publically. I know I just did but no one knows who I am referring to.

  • Yes I was referring to mikeg, and you are right to assume my statement was a hypothetical.
Obviously I don't care about telling him to move in a public forum.

Scooter Shop?

Looking to buy a scooter! Where should I go? I would like to see a variety (stella, honda, yamaha, sym). Is that possible or do I have to go to specific dealers for each brand? I know one shop I went to years ago had a bunch of Stellas and Buddies but that was it (on the NW side). Also not looking to scammed or anything. This will be my first scooter purchase so I would love to buy from helpful/nice people!!

  • belkis muldoon homeowner on 1500 block of Jackson Blvd

Motorworks on Western is a great shop. Been around for a while. No scamming.

  • Curtis Kuhn Edgewater born and raised

Scooter Works on Damen north of Foster has a showroom full of new and used scooters. They're friendly and reliable.

How they'd have to pay for it is to outsource janitorial services etc. Or they'd pay $15 and lay off people so there'd be fewer janitors etc. Either way in the instance of the schools, people would lose jobs. I'm not saying this would apply to the private sector. With the schools' huge debt and no way to raise more funds to pay salaries the schools would have no choice but to layoff people.

Found dog

I found a dog at roughly Elizabeth and Ohio while I was walking my dog. It was loose and just followed us home. I took it to the vet to see if it's microchipped, no luck. Spread the word if you want.

Please contact me if this is your dog or you know whose it is

  • Cathy Knapp Smith Park area resident

I reposted to my facebook to see if anyone in the area will claim

  • I hope she finds her family! She seems so sweet! Thanks Luke, for being responsible and kind to the animal!

WGN-AM Broadcasting Live from EuroFurniture on Sunday

This sounds like something fun to do on a Sunday afternoon for HGTV addicts like me. And, if you just happen to find the perfect couch, chair or bar stool, you'll be supporting an independent, family-owned business.

From 1-3 pm Frank Fontana or "Design on a Dime" will be doing his show live from the showroom.

Man Who Goes Door-to-Door Shoveling Leaves/Snow

If you live east of Damen and North of Grand, near the Mancel Talcott Elementary School:

I was wondering if you could help a neighbor out by vouching for this person:

Have you ever been approached by an African-American male (middle-aged) who knocks on your door, sometimes at inappropriate times in the evening, asking if he could rake leaves or shovel snow for any cash you may have?

He apparently goes door-to-door hoping to get any cash he can earn....

He apparently goes door-to-door hoping to get any cash he can earn. We live on the Ohio block and it seems like he may also go on neighboring streets such as Rice, Erie, and Huron.

He seems like a nice, friendly man, but may also make you uncomfortable. So we just wanted to know if he's someone a neighbor would recommend.

Break in on West Ohio today

If anyone saw anything suspicious on West Ohio/2100 block please let us know. Two lap top computers were taken in the afternoon from our locked condo. - nothing else that we know of. We think unavailable calls were left on our answering machine first to see if anyone was home?

  • How did you know ComEd was even coming around? They don't normally make announcements in my experience.

Do you usually have to open a gate to let them in?

  • Kat u village Kat, u village resident

Usually my husband was able to let them in but not yesterday.. So we left gate open.

Meeting Room

In need of a free meeting room with a tv & wifi for next Sunday to hold about 10 people anywhere from wicker park going west to Forest Park

  • KC resident!

Try the City of Chicago building on, uh, Chicago Avenue. (aka the Goldblatt's building). There appear to be a few meeting rooms available to the community in there.

  • The public library Mable Manning branch on Madison and Hound has WiFi and meeting room. They prob have a tv as well.

  • Yes, most public libraries in the city have meeting rooms with WiFi. I'm not sure that all of them will have a TV available, though. As for the Goldblatt's building, the main meeting room is for use by the City. The library does have a small group study room available to the public, but it's not large enough for 10 people.

Any bars or restaurants hiring in the neighborhood?

Hi everyone!

I just moved here from Arkansas and my job hunt is growing sluggish. I've heard from a lot of people living in Chicago that it's a lot about who you know within establishments.

If anyone could give me some leads on places hiring, I would greatly appreciate it and would love to treat you to a few brewskis.

Cheers!

Santa Maria Addolorata Church Fight

This is the last straw Santa Maria Addolorata church holds noisy parties every Saturday night from May to the end of September. Loud music and kids running outside past close to midnight, I've called 311 more than once to complain. Last week the noisy party ends with a flood of people fighting from the party taking in to the middle of Ada St. Police were called but this type of partying just have to end once and for all.

I am extremely late to this post, but I too am fed up with this church and their disrespect for those of us who live nearby...their parties are awful, and their street fest last year had the worst sound system. I actually had to leave my house for the day. Finally, the parking situation where their patrons park all over Ada st like they own it is becoming downright obnoxious. They park on the sidewalks, in front of the fire hydrant, and that's after they've exhausted double parking all the way down Ada st. Ugh, I wish they'd show more respect for our community, and that the church rectory would do more due diligence to keep the peace.
