  • Dave- Scott is anti-status quo in that he refuses to vote along with Rahm's left-wing lackeys on the city council, so you two should really be kindred spirits!

In 2007, Scott Waguespack defeated formen Ald. Ted Matlak (appointed as alderman in 1998) by 121 votes. The Ted Matlak-Terry Gabinski-Dan Rostenkowski-Joe Rodtenkowski regime had run the 32nd Ward for nearly one hundred years. That's status quo.

As for the money trail you will find it here: https://www.elections.il.gov/campaigndisclosure/contributionssearchbyallcontributions.aspx.

With regard to the Tribune's endorsement for the 2nd Ward, it is clear that they did not do their job investigating the backgrounds and campaign contributions of all the Aldermen, unless of course they are turning a blind eye to everything they have reported on over the years including the parking meter scandal.

More lies and desperation from Rahm's secret PAC

This card hit my mailbox today and it reminded me of Alderman Waguespack's retort that was in the Suntimes yesterday:

...Daley had hoped to dole out cash grants — ranging from $25 to $200 — to half of Chicago’s 400,000 homeowners to ease the burden caused by a phase-out of the 7 percent cap on assessment increases. But relatively few homeowners took him up on the offer.

Waguespack said he voted against Daley’s token property tax relief for three reasons: the parking meter deal did nothing to fix Chicago’s “structural operating deficit;” the break was bankrolled by funds siphoned from the “rainy day fund” created by parking meter proceeds, and Wall Street rating agencies advised against it and dropped the city’s outlook from stable to negative.
“It just shows their desperation and lack of knowledge about what the real issues are and were. They’re throwing everything but the kitchen sink at anybody who has good ideas because they’ve run out of them,” said Waguespack, who has $37,369 in cash for his Feb. 24 race against challenger Elise Doody-Jones.

“If [Chicago Forward] is basically saying I’m doing a bad thing by voting against this, what they’re really saying is they support what happened in 2009 under Daley. That is, sell off the parking meters and provide gimmicky property tax relief with the money. It was such a bad gimmick, hardly anybody took advantage of it.”

Fellow Citizens,

We're only 15 days from another potentially historic city election, so once again, we need to make certain our ballots are cast without fear of shenanigans. It's imperative to democracy in Chicago that citizens do their duty and be vigilant over this sacred right.

We are calling on you to watch over our polling places to keep this election fair, secure, and impartial on February 24th. If you recall the midterm elections, robo-calls were made to intimidate judges from opening polling places, possibly causing thousands of votes from being denied across Cook County. In a tight race, this could unfortunately change the outcome of an election. We need you to make sure voters have access and the fabric of democracy stays intact.

Learn more about being an election judge here

You can click the link above, stop by our office at 2115 N Western Ave, or give us a call at 773-413-0032 if you want to help out -- whichever is easiest for you. Thank you for your commitment, it means a lot to us.

Friends:

We expect snow in Chicago, and we also expect our city to be able to handle it. Sometimes the job is tough, but we have been able to clean our streets during previous storms.

When I am mayor, I will approach plowing our streets in a different way:

-We need a Streets and Sanitation Commissioner that is a professional operations manager that has experience managing snow emergencies.

-There should be a better allocation of resources to problem areas like schools, hospitals, public safety facilities and side streets. We should not wait for the last flake of snow to start thinking about the side streets. Or 24 hours later either.

-When it warrants, we should utilize private plows to help deal with problem areas, especially the side streets. Residents understand that streets do not get plowed immediately, but they do expect a responsive city that will work to clean streets as soon as we can.

-We should move to a grid system for city services, with snow removal being one of those services. Not only will this create budget savings, it will help plows be more efficient, thus helping our streets get cleaned sooner.

These are just a few of the ideas that I will implement as mayor. We need a leader that is tough and fair, and with your help we can help move Chicago forward on February 24th.
