What's your view

As I look out my window, I was wondering what do my neighbors see out of their windows. Are there sights that bother you and ones that you love? There is a tree in the next yard that crows live in, I find them fascinating. Next to that is a garage that has never been finished. It is half sided and half roofed, has been that way for years.

Plz post the results on this thread so others can see the results! It astounds me that the concept of top down is not what people do. They go to the lowest level of phone support, 311 telephone operators or an alderman telephone answerer and expect for good things to happen.

The world is not like that anymore. The BOSS has to say: get this done or nothing happens.

We pay taxes whether we own or rent. We typically do not get the service we pay for. It is in our best interest to BE SURE that the workers who come out DO THE WORK.

This is where the citizen falls short. The citizen needs to show the BOSS that someone came, they did not do their job....and to get rid of the SLACKER. Until we do this; taxpayer $$ is wasted in huge volumes and it bankrupts the city.

We all have the ability to help the mayor clean house. We just have to buckle down and do it and not wait for someone else.

Test these email requests. Send one everyday for things you see that are not right. Attach a photo. You will be pleasantly surprised at how fast it got done....

You will feel relevant, empowered, happy!

The view outside my front window is significant architecturally interesting buildings. 20 years ago it was vacant abandoned buildings. Out my back window is a very large complex of section 8 buildings that are meticulously groomed but have problematic tenants. That has changed to fewer problematic tenants from an alley full of drug dealers . We owe that to Phil Cline and the old Mayor Daley who helped put up a fence along the entire block at the alley because drug dealers would dart in and out of the buildings to avoid police. We owe that to Charles L Williams who was patrol deputy.

That is the change for us in 20 years. Our block is also 17.8% more populated than 20 years ago due to the Building Department shutting down all the abandoned buildings. That is significantly better than adjacent blocks with negative (-) growth.

This +17.8% population growth is a testimate that emails to the mayor and commissioner will improve the situation of the neighborhood. They do a better job than our alderman.

"Bad Landlords"

Some of you may have heard by now that the City is planning on posting a list of "Bad Landlords". Granted there may a few here and there. However, I feel that if the city post a list of "Bad Landlords then there should be a list for "Terrible Tenants" as well!

Things are just different and a trillion dollars could travel round the world with the click of a mouse in a second. THINK on how fast that is! Things that were a twinkle in someones' eye can be a 3 dimensional item within hours thanks to 3d printing.

Things are just different, faster, maybe better and maybe worse. It is hard to sort out but one must do the best they can.

In 50 years China built itself up into a superpower. In the same 50 years the south and west sides of Chicago cratered to unlivable conditions where 1/3 of the population has fled to the suburbs. 1.2 million have left; most in minority neighborhoods because living conditions are the worst.

Maybe next election!

I have read a look of post in regards to replacing Alderman Ervin in this up coming election. From what I've read It seems like we'll be stuck with Erivn for another four years.
Going forward I think the plan now should be selecting a qualified candidate and we all rally behind that one person. Get that person out there so that he/she can gain some notoriety.
Also, After reading a lot of the posts it seems like there maybe serval candidate among the group?

Such as the time when the 2 ladies contacted the local news to expose the heroine smoke den located in the middle of Garfield Park.

We need to prepare to reach out to local media outlets, journalist and the national media outlets as well. We need to put Ward 28 under the spotlight for the next 4 years.

One Killed, 6 Wounded Since Friday Night

A 20-year-old man was outside in the 500 block of North Drake when someone opened fire from a passing gray SUV, police said. The man — who police said has documented gang ties — was shot in the buttocks and taken to Mount Sinai, where his condition was stabilized.

Walter L. Wright was in the 5800 block of South Western when a gunman approached and shot him in the chest, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Wright, of the 5300 block of South May, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later was pronounced dead at 8:09 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday.

About 3:40 a.m., the three were in a vehicle traveling east in the 4500 block of West Lake when a dark colored sedan pulled alongside them and someone inside opened fire, police said.

The 20-year-old was walking in an alley in the 4800 block of South Princeton when he was shot in the left foot, police said.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 9:35 p.m in the 6400 block of South Peoria found the man on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest. The man, a documented gang member, was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

The officer “was conducting an investigation” in the 6700 block of South Peoria when his gun discharged, striking him in the leg, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in good condition.

Fioretti as 28th Ward Write In Candidate

Why can't Fioretti be written in as 28th ward alderman? He has no ward, knows the west side and is experienced.

  • gpblight 15 Yr East Garfield Resident

If there are enough illegal actions and convictions...I think one can loose their seat. Then the mayor appoints a candidate.

Not sure how all of that plays out in the legal system.

  • gpblight 15 Yr East Garfield Resident

I don' think you have to foia. I think there are websites that publish donors to candidates. Is moveon.org one of them? Does anyone know what site that would be? If so, please post here.
