Beverly Park

Hi- we are looking at a house on the park and will be new to the area. Living on a park could be good or bad depending on the park. Does anyone live around here? Can you give me feedback as far as - it is a 'quiet' park? It seems really clean and nice, I am hoping that is the case! Thanks.

Amy, the Beverly Park area is great.
Maureen, what's the problem with Monroe park?

Teenagers acting very inappropriately especially on weekends. Many come from EP & OL. In many instances the teenagers are very rude & not cooperative. The trash & garbage left behind is awful.

107 / 108th (?) block of Fairfield - Curious...

We are looking at houses in the area and saw a house on this block... I think.. may be the 108th.

We saw a feature that I have never seen while house shopping and I'm curious if anyone in that area is on Everyblock and knows the history of why the homes/lots were designed this way.

Basically - two homes share a deep 'pit' area between the houses - it almost seems like an empty foundation that each basement opens...

Basically - two homes share a deep 'pit' area between the houses - it almost seems like an empty foundation that each basement opens in to. I guess you could use it for a patio but the place we saw had it completely empty. There was a sump pump outside (also new to me) but Im sure that area could potentially collect a ton of rain or snow.

Just wondering if anyone knows the method behind that madness... and also curious if anyone actually lives in that area - are there flooding issues with that?

Freight Trains in the area

We are considering a move to the west Beverly area and / or Mount Greenwood.
I noticed there are some tracks along Rockwell and Sacramento that are freight. Curious for the people who live in the little pocket - is there a lot of noise from them? Are they super frequent? We are just curious... trying to find a quiet place to live in the city, I know that's a challenge :)

  • They did zone the area to be quiet so the trains dont blow their horns upon approaching the crossing, other then that you'll get used to it.

  • You get used to it.

  • I live at 115th & Homan. I recall hearing the horns from here. What really bothers me is the length of the trains. Both set of tracks can keep you waiting 10 minutes or more at times. Something you will want to consider.
