People's Gas

There is a bush that has never been replaced from when People's Gas installed my new meter outside. I have called them and even Alderman Harris. It has been months and that bush was very expensive. Anybody have any advice on what I should do? Thanks

Hi All,
I've been investigating moving back to South Shore (I'm in California now, but grew up in HP/SS and lived at 73rd & Jeff from '85 to '98). Been looking at real estate, paying close attention to all the reports you've given on all the unfortunate changes in the community in the last few years, but still interested because frankly, I LOVED living there and I have faith in it making a rebound (in large part because of the Everyblock member community). I've been looking at two high rises, 7321 SS Drive and 6700 SS Drive. Re 7321, it's an older building, looks beautiful and has some reasonable prices for condos, but I wonder mainly about heating an older place like that, if it's sky high or not. 6700 is newer, presumably with more efficient heating, but I also wonder about the level of noise from other apartments in both of them. Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) living in those two buildings? Even know some one who lives there I might be able to communicate with? Thanks!

Dominicks

So I just read the city will be buying the dominicks mall? How will this effect the chances of getting a grocer back? Am I hearing this right? Any concise info would be great, since my pc is ill.

    - The owner has no incentive to quickly replace Dominick's or quickly invest the reported $6 million needed in improvements since the Dominick's lease runs through May of 2015. They're basically collecting 18 months of inflated on a closed store with no maintenance required.

    - To lease the space to another tenant would require improvements and rent concessions as it has been reported that what they're asking, and what Dominick's has been paying, is above fair market value.

    - When the news initially broke that Dominick's would continue to pay their rent through May 2015, I knew that the owner wouldn't have a sense of urgency in working to find a new grocer.
