Found Miniature Pinscher

My neighbor found a miniature pinscher female on 1000 block of N Honore St. She has a pink collar. If your dog or know someone...
They are taking it to the Anti Cruelty at 157 W Grand Ave. (W. Grand and Lasalle).

  • UPDATE: Anti Cruelty would not take her. There was someone there from "Bark Of The Town" grooming, and they now have the dog. They are going to take her to a vet to see if she is "chipped."

Donation stations

Anyone know of places in the wicker park area where I can drop of clothes to donate?

  • Northwestern Settlement house on Augusta and Noble is an excellent place to donate to, every Friday they have a giveaway of clothes, books, household things, all donated. One time I tentatively asked if they accepted used (clean) kid's pyjamas, they emphatically said yes, they need everything. Truly not for profit.

We donate to The ARK on Milwaukee.
    Information from their web site:

Don't be afraid to call 911

So many posts lately about seeing suspicious activity. Please call 911 if you see something. The police department WANTS you to call them if you see suspicious activity because we can be the collective eyes on the street. You should also post on this site but the police told us at a CAPS meeting that they don't have the time to track this site. Don't be afraid to call 911. You may prevent more crimes in our neighborhood.

  • Thanks for the reminder. I've noticed 911 works a bit differently in Chicago than other areas. 911 is really the police phone number if you need a car out for any reason.

Thanks for the reminder. I've noticed 911 works a bit differently in Chicago than other areas. 911 is really the police phone number if you need a car out for any reason.

A good excuse to have couple officers walk your street is if there are a lot of illegally parked cars. Call on it (prepared with zone number or what's illegal and then meet the officers out there). Everytime i have done this it's because there are >6 vehicles parked illegally within 100 ft of my property. I'm happy to point out when someone is 2' from the curb, license plates expired, no zone permit, missing front license plate. (Yes I've received a ton of my own tickets in the past.)

The officers always seem friendly when I've done this in the past.

Also, if you ever see someone checking door handles, call immediately!!!

  • Marcelino Gerena New 31st Ward Resident

Calling also allocates additional resources (more police) that are based on the number of calls received. Crime reported help police see patterns and help in stopping future crimes.
