Earlier this evening (a Friday around 4 p.m.) my husband answered our door for a gentleman from "Just Energy." The guy very quickly gave him a schpeel about "the city offering lowered energy rates for those who qualify" and asked to see our recent gas or energy bill to confirm that we qualified for the program. I overheard the conversation and handle the utility bills in the house so I stepped up to the door to check out the situation....

He was very pushy about wanting to see our old bill, which I definitely didn't feel comfortable with. I told him we use electronic billing and he said he would wait for us to print it out. This just didn't sit right with me and we asked him to leave. After he left I did a quick google search and found many articles about people getting scammed into signing their contract or giving them personal information. Here is a link:

Just Energy reps dress in hats, shirts and carry IDs with logos and colors which mislead unwary customers into thinking that they are affiliated with your local energy companies. I urge anyone who receives a visit from these people to not show them anything or sign their contract.

chicago girl but new to Humbolt Park
Does anyone know of a free dental clinic for a friend who is unemployed? near West Town, Bucktown or Wicker Park? Or anywhere at this point? Any kind of a toothache is unbearable.

I'm more curious than anything else, especially since it seems to happen with some frequency, as well as the day of the week and the time of night. Does anyone know, does the CFD make housecalls for...I don't even know what this would be. Maybe helping the guy in the wheelchair up to his apartment?

On a weekly basis i would get stuck behind a firetruck while picking my daugther up. They would take a hefty woman in a wheelchair up to her apartment while two grown men with her just watch them. Go figure city resources hard at work.
It isn't the best solution, but there is VERY limited handicapped-accessible housing available. I can't imagine trying to get around the city in a wheel chair.

Fifty /Fifty's burgers rock, I can't believe they are not getting more attention on this thread. I think they are tastier and juicier than Lockdown. I haven't gotten one in awhile but this thread makes me want to order one!!
Division Street Bar & Grill has fantastic burgers. There's never a huge crowd in there but their food is awesome.

He walks dogs, but does not make a big business out of it, walking three at a time. Let me know if you still need a dog walker every day. Your day has to get outside and the dog walker has to be consistent so your dog can count on him, and you, too, so you don't have to worry.

Saw your job-box was wide open at 8pm- long after the crew left for the day.
Maybe they had an emergency and had to split, maybe Tony though Sal locked it up...I don't know!
But after seeing the shovels, rakes, trowels and other costly tools in there the best thing for me to do was to lock them up for you.
Your shiny, bullet-proof Master lock was just sitting there on the ground so I put it on the lockbar and voila! Stolen tools and wasted tax dollars averted!

Haven't seen them yet. But usually it's legit (when I was in High School) we'd sell these coupon books to raise funds. I think you just have to use your best judgement or give the school a quick call to make sure.

Just Energy is a licensed Natural Gas supplier. They are on the NY stock market and have been around for many years before any one in the USA even heard of them.

Actually, when I said they were hoping to sign you up, I was just making an educated guess about their thoughts. If you think they're disinterested in the outcome, please let us know how you decided that.
I don't begrudge them an honest job, but some of the tap dancing around their business methods makes me suspicious.
