Jewel food store Monopoly

If anyone has pieces #105 & #107 want to split prize?
Let me know-seriously

  • To revise my estimates 105 pieces are going for on ebay 200-257. Of course, there have been 3 105 pieces sold on ebay and there are only 3 107 pieces, therefore 3 people think they only need 105 to claim the million dollars.

  • Julia Z-N Andersonville Dog Mama

I think the Monopoly game at Jewel is really annoying. I played last time and it was a waste of time and I'm still finding those little tags stuck to my dogs after a night of couch mining.

Flaco's Tacos at Granville Redline Stop?

Hi all,
I remember reading several months ago that Flaco's Tacos was going to open up a new location under the RedLine Tracks at the Granville stop. Haven't heard anything about this since, and there hasn't been much if any construction activity in the space. Does anybody know anything about this?

  • DK Living and Playing in Chicago

Still too many but whatever. Just glad this time something else is opening this time.

  • hazelg Longtime Edgewater resident

Too many for whom? Their customers don't seem to mind. Perhaps if these businesses had not had the fortifude to remain in their locations for over the past ten years all the new businesses would not have looked to locating on Granville. Established businesses bring new businesses also. Let's not be negative about the convenience stores, after all they are convenient.

Looking for a good, reasonably priced veterinarian

New to the Edgewater area and I'm looking for recommendations for a veterinarian. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • just a note that the occasional clinics at Petco (or any other pet store usually) are NOT full service veterinarians. I used to work for them and have absolutely no problem with them; still go there to get the best deal on vaccines and routine tests. but they can't do anything more complicated or give you a real check-up. the vets who work with them are still awesome people and will usually tell you if they suspect any issues that you should go to your full service vet. just FYI.

I don't know who Little Herbie is, but I have to second what he says. We've also dealt with Misener Holley pushing tests to the point where trying to draw blood was hurting our little chi and we still stupidly let them try a second time, when we think something went wrong and she stopped breathing (but recovered). Even after that they wanted to do more testing (necessitating drawing more blood) and we had to put our foot down and say nope, that's enough trauma for one dog. I recognize that stuff happens and maybe even their intent is good, but when something's not working, you don't just keep trying it again and again, especially with what happened. She was utterly terrified to return there and we ultimately ended up switching to Bramer in Evanston, where things have been going much better.

Piece of mail misdirected to me

If you are--or know--a “Claire Fahey” in Edgewater Glen, please let her know to contact me backchannel. I just received an official piece of gov’t mail (no, not a check) addressed to her, but at my address. Nobody by that name has ever lived here, to my knowledge. She needs to advise that gov’t entity of her real address and have that document reissued to her at the proper address.

  • Really Sandy? You had to post all of this here rather than doing the investigation by yourself? Really??? [shaking my head]

All's well that ends well. BTW, why so many finger-waggers and nasty critics on these forums? Don't folks have anything better to do with their time than criticize and even insult their fellow posters? The 19th century phenomenon of the "town scold" is alive and well, it seems.

Kenmore & Thorndale Area

Hi -
I am considering moving to Edgewater for the first time. The apartment I am looking at is at Kenmore and Thorndale. Is this area considered safe for a female 20-something?
Thanks!

  • Even "ordinary" cellphones can be dangerous. I remember seeing someone walking down Thorndale talking so intensely on his phone that he crossed Sheridan Rd. against the light and never even noticed that he was almost hit.

  • Les M. 30 plus year resident

You're right about THAT, Larry! It's come to the point where I dread driving my car anymore. You gotta have eyes in back of your head and on the side. Why these pedestrians feel they have such entitlement, I'll never know. Meanwhile, THEY'RE the ones getting hurt, mugged or killed!

Lower TV Bill & Faster Internet?

We pay so much for cable and only watch a few channels. I've been looking for something better in our area and was curious who you use? My sister sent a note about this helpful site www.10channels.com where you choose channels you watch, then it finds matching packages in your area. Wanted to share this as it was great. I'm going to call them for more advice.

We are streaming a lot these days and need fast internet. Any recommendations?

  • DK Living and Playing in Chicago

Honestly? Get an antenna RCA has them-we got rid of our cable and use that-we got like 20 channels. We hardly watch tv. Don't waste money on cable unless you really watch a lot of tv. Netflix is good too.

  • Get an antenna from Best Buy and you will get 30+ channels add roku and Amazon and
    Netflix best choices
