Looking to rent a parking space

I'm looking to rent a parking space somewhere near the 1500 block of Rosemont Ave. Please let me know if you know of anything.

  • Try posting up signs in the area that you are looking and that should help you out a lot. People will be coming to you with spots for rent rather than the other way around.

  • Thanks for the idea -- I was wondering if that might be illegal to post them on telephone poles, etc?

  • When I have done such things in the past, I just go back when I am done and take them down. People are pretty cool with it where I live in the city. They tend to be more cool with light poles than taping to trees.

: As I am missing my cat from our apartment fire last Tuesday on W. Margate Terrace (Uptown), this post breaks my heart. Please pray that my little monster is safe out there on the streets. And if anyone is so inclined, please refer to my post and picture of Jaden. Thanks.

  • Julia Z-N Andersonville Dog Mama

Katie, they eat small pets only when very hungry. There are lots of their natural prey available so your cat has probably not been a casualty. I pray you get your 'little monster' back safe and sound.

Yesterday’s Storms Brought Havoc To Edgewater, See The Pics

Monday was officially the hottest day of the year with The National Weather Service saying that the heat index rose above 100 degrees in some areas. That heat fired up some nasty storms that engulfed the edgewater neighborhood. Around 12:30 p.m. the dark skies let loose with a large amount of rain and heavy winds. […]

Thank the City

While out yesterday after the storms I noticed a swarm of City vehicles and personnel working to clean up and cut down the massive trees that fell. Up and down Balmoral seemed the area most hit. I saw the Commissioner of Streets & Sanitation out there and Alderman Osterman as well. Both were very low key, surveying the damage and getting additional support out quickly to assist. Compliments due when deserved.

  • Don

Yes they did a great job, BUT alderman O'Connor has been asked to trim the trees along Ravenswood on the train track side for years and now that we had a big storm one of those branches damaged my home. I will reiterate it may be time to look these people and see if they are a affective and elect new alderman who will reasond

I was also impressed with the response of the city to the storm. Bravo, guys! Nice job.

New bar at old Wild Rover location

Anyone have info about a new bar going in at 6001 N. Paulina (Peterson and Paulina intersection?) Used to be Wild Rover a few years back. Drove by and the inside looks very nicely renovated, saw at least 2 flat screens on the wall and wood paneling and wood bar throughout.

Hello Everyblockers,

My name is Alexis and I have lived in Little Italy for a little less than a year. Recently the building was sold and I was given a 30 day notice to vacate. I am currently homeless, bouncing around from couch to couch, but was able to send my daughter to Mississippi where she is staying with some family while I find us a new home.

I have applied EVERYWHERE. I have spent an obscene amount of money on apartment applications and am continually denied. I have extremely low credit, I left the military honorably last year after four years of service and my husband immediately left me. Due to the divorce and loss of income we experienced a very hard year.

I now work fulltime selling insurance in Evanston and have a good steady income but my past continues to haunt me. I am in need of housing ASAP. I am looking to spend no more than $900.00 a month in rent and need a dog friendly apartment.

I am also open to the option of living with a second single mother.

I am also working with a veterans organization called Volunteers of America who have agreed to pay first month's rent (up to $1000) and the security deposit (up to 3x's the rent).

The situation is dire. Where I am staying now does not allow dogs and I had to give her up temporarily to a couple who can also no longer watch her. I need a home now.

I am trying to stick to anywhere near the purple/red line as I have to get rid of my car and work out of Evanston.

If you can help in anyway please let me know.

Honest and Constructive Reviews of Know No Limits?

So it's been some time since the take over and I would like to hear some honest and constructive reviews of the gym. I am thinking of joining but want to hear what others think of the place. Is the staff cool? Is it pretentious? Are new members made to feel comfortable? etc. Anything that would or could help me decide would be great.

  • It seems like a great place to work out, but to get the Cheetah senior citizen rate I had to go back to Broadway Cheetah.

  • RTG_RP Doing things.

It's a really great gym. It doesn't have the intimidating clientele if cheetah gym, and Leona's yoga classes are fantastic. The staff are super friendly. I would recommend it.

Rarely have I seen them delay repairs on faulty or broken equipment. I haven't taken any of the classes (but they seem to be popular). Not a hardcore gym and in no way intimidating. Very low key and after 7pm the place really clears out. During the day it also seems fairy open so no wait for equipment or machines. Overall it's a good gym and good value in my opinion.

Emmy Awards screening locations tonight?

Hi neighbors!

A friend of mine has just moved to the area (has no TV) and would like to know if there is any venue that is screening the Emmy Awards tonight. My first idea was to tell her Moody's Pub, but can anyone here think of other good locations as well?

I am a CPS Art teacher from Rogers Park, but I teach in Edgewater. We have students from both neighborhoods that attend our school, as well as from all over the city. I want to make sure my students have the materials they need to succeed this year, so I just created a request for my classroom at DonorsChoose.org. We appreciate any assistance or spreading of the word to support our project.

Help! I spaced out!

Well, I accidentally left it at our neighborhood restaurant. I had a migraine at the time and had forgotten about it completely until just now, when she asked to pick it up so she could get it framed.

I called the Restaurant and they don't have it. I emailed the PR person, but it's Sunday. And I...

She does not know I lost it, yet...by any chance did anyone else from the neighborhood happen to participate, nab an extra poster, and is willing to part with it? I'm will to pay a small reward to the Good Samaritan!

Thank you!

Thank you for your help!

I saw your lost cat poster tonight at Glenwood and Rosemont. I think . . .

it may be in the courtyard of our building. I heard a cat crying outdoors after the huge rainstorm around 3 p.m. Saturday. I will call you in the morning so you can come in and look for it. Unfortunately, I didn't see your poster until about 8:30 p.m.
