Lost "African Grey" Parrot bird

My friend lost her African Grey parrot bird near Harlem & Talcott, on the morning of Saturday April 30th. The bird is fully flighted, and unfortunately flew out the door. He is very friendly, but does not like getting wet. Since it has been raining all day, we are hoping he landed close-by in someone's backyard and sought shelter from the rain. If you see this bird anywhere, please reply or call our friends at the Chicago Bird Collision Monitors...

Attached is a picture of what he looks like. About the size of a pigeon or slightly larger. Because he is tame, there is a good chance he will approach someone in the neighborhood. He is dearly missed, and if you can keep an eye out, I know she would be grateful. Thank you!

  • A lot of police officers live in the neighborhood.
The post on Lost Pets on Northside FB page has been shared a couple times - hopeful the bird gets returned soon

Bad behavior by Oriole Park

Saturday night about 8:00 I saw a black SUV I didn't recognize from the neighborhood pull up in front of the elderly couple across the street's garage. A tall blond guy got out, went over to the side of the garage and peed on it! He then went back to the car, zipping up his pants along the way, got in and did a u-ey and went back towards the park. I opened the front door and tried to get a license plate number but couldn't see well in the rain, and he apparently didn't see me.

Direct tv

I'm thinking of switching from ATT U-verse to Direct-tv. I live in Norwood
Park West. I'm wondering if anyone who has Direct-tv can tell me how the reception is. I'm concerned that the O'Hare flight path may interfere with reception.

Cut the cord! You will save so much money by switching to a streaming box (we have a roku 3, but there are lots of options)

  • A lot of the comments about satellite going out more often I find is due to the initial positioning of the dish by the installer. My Comcast neighbors call me about their service going out and I'm fine with Dish. Positioning is the key

Basement flooding question

My husband and I are interested in purchasing a home in Norwood Park/Union Ridge, near Nagel and South of the expressway. The home we would like to purchase has a disclosure about basement flooding in 2013, saying the whole neighborhood flooded. Does anyone know if the sewers have been worked on recently to fix flooding problems in the neighborhood or is this a reoccurring problem that the neighborhood just has to deal with?

Any feedback is appreciated!

Breakins

Keep doors and windows locked

  • This seems like important info can you be a bit more specific?

  • I was taught in the 50's to always lock doors and windows. When I moved to Denver in 71 people wondered why I always locked my car door. Until they found out I was from Chicago.

  • Grew up in the 50's in Chicago. Never locked our doors. Never a problem. Did lock our bikes though because those went like hotcakes. Now I lock bikes that are in the locked garage, car doors also, no matter where they are parked.

  • Last I heard the suspects are still at large.
