OK, this is something I've noticed lately at Norwood Park; given the hot stretch of weather we've been experiencing my dogs are walked pretty early in the a.m. and we do a lap around the park before heading home.
So on the early walks I've seen individuals who permit their dogs to roam off-leash. This morning it was a guy with a large brown and white mixed breed who was near the parking lot of the senior center while his dog was on the other side of the field house. I get it that your dog is friendly and just exceptionally well-trained (well, maybe not so much, otherwise he'd not be 20 feet away from you. But I digress) and you feel no need to adhere to a spottily enforced regulation.
However, I'm walking two dogs; both came out of animal control, both with different personalities and one who is friendly enough off-leash, but a big ol' dog charging up to her while she's restrained on-leash sends her into growling self-defense mode. No, she's not a ruthless attack dog but she's reactive to other dogs that are larger than her when she cannot run away or defend herself. Don't know what her history is, but given her breed chances are things weren't easy for her before she got adopted.
And think of your own dog's safety as well. Are you positive he/she won't dodge into the street or meet up with another off-leash dog that isn't so friendly?
Sorry for the vent, but if you want your dog to run around off-leash there's a dog park located just on the other side of the park. Maybe give that a try?

  • More often than not nothing good happens when one dog is off leash and the other is restrained. The dog being restrained will often feel threatened and act accordingly.

I am in 100% agreement with TDawg54. If you want your dog to run, take him to the dog park.

  • People keep their dogs off leash because they are "special" (the people that is) - don't have to or want to comply with rules/laws. You are suppose to second guess what their dog will do!

  • I agree the dog park is there for a reason. I can't even walk my dog on leash at the park because when an off leash dog runs up to her she feels threatened and will try to fight. People yell out my dogs friendly. I'm sorry but unfortunately my dog is not.

Property tax question

My question is concerning property tax increase.
I have read the property taxes went up just over 9%.
If your previous tax bill was $5000, now it is $5500
Or did Rham and Toni find a way to screw people even more?
And hows the new O'Hare runways and related noise working out?
