  • Reid Hyams X-Art Entertainment / Commercial Affiliated

No Pedro, you're absolutely incorrect. Fact is that the official chamber of commerce in the 49th Ward and neighborhood is the Rogers Park Business Alliance.

  • The Rogers Park Business Alliance is the chamber-in-fact and has lead role on the Clark Street Vision process whereas the chamber-in-name-only does not have an official role nor is the chamber-in-fact. Yes Reid, that also was correctly explained in very clear detail to members of the Chicago Committee on Zoning, Landmarks and Building Standards at a meeting on May 22nd while the chamber-in-name's president was present. And that explanation was not disputed by the chamber president during that discussion.

Alexanders Restaurant on Clark

Talked with them - they are in the process of installing new sink etc. They expect to reopen next Thursday June 1. :-)

  • J. David Stokes in Andersonville HIV Clinical Trials Seeking Subjects - $ Paid

Alexander's has been a great diner to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. And Alexander's will continue to be a great diner to eat breakfast lunch and dinner when it reopens.
Alexander's has its regulars who eat there everyday and can't wait for Alexander's to re-open.
We all have a choice about where to spend our $ for good food at a reasonably price; prepared and served by some of the nicest people in Chicago.

Hi neighbors,

I have sold my condo, and I'm looking to buy a two or three flat in the Rogers Park area--preferably east, but flexible.

Inventory seems pretty low right now, but if any of you have a heads up on a place coming on the market I would love to hear about it!

In the meantime, since I may have to move out of here before I actually find a building to buy, I am also looking for a dog friendly, reasonably priced studio or one bedroom to rent or sublet. Would appreciate any leads you have in that area as well.

I am a solidly employed, very responsible, reasonably quiet renter with good credit – if that helps. :-)

Thank you!

Today someone stuck a post-it to it that said "Scum go back to the getto." Kenmore between thorndale and ardmore. Anyone recognize these tags? There's been a few shootings at the end of the block in the past few months including one in march in which 2 people died. Also on more than one occasion I've walked outside and the street was PACKED with police vehicles and undercover officers literally running past me with guns out. What the hell! Curious if people know what's up with this activity.

Stair climbing

Hey neighbors, was wondering if Loyola or any high rise around allowed public access in order to climb the stairs for exercise?

  • Janvier RP resident, singer/songwriter, MS in Child Dev.

    Good morning,

Don't know about high rise stairs, but field house at Loyola Park (near Sheridan and Estes) has bleacher stairs. You don't get the continuos climb, but they're outside-a decent trade off in good weather.

    J.

  • Thank you! I also read that maybe the Loyola parking garage is an option for rainy days. Will have to take a walk this weekend and check it all out :)

May 13, 2017 10:30 PM The male passenger attempted to lure me into the vehicle by telling me they were my Uber driver. The driver got out pretending to look for an address to deliver his "pizza" in a box. His passenger was trying to unlock the back door saying, YES YES UBER!
I'm lucky he was too fat to get the door unlocked quickly from his front seat passenger post!

My real Uber driver arrived shortly thereafter. This happened in front of my home in the 1400 block of W Rosemont around 10:30 PM

May 20, 2017. Saw the same car with same driver and older female in front passenger seat prowling the neighborhood by the Peterson Rd Target store heading N on Damen around 9:30 PM

Not sure what their game is, but I'm convinced it's not Pizza Delivery.

Call 911 immediately if you see this vehicle and it seems suspicious.

Be careful. If you see this car

I had a young woman try to run a friend and myself off the road while on LSD on my motorcycle. We pulled off on the exit for Michigan Ave for a breather and she nearly took me out trying to take pictures of our license plates she said to report us.

It took two phone calls and 2 hours to 911 and a friend that knows police in that area until finally a White Shirt showed up and told us to just go and give a report at the Police Station. This after the young woman threatened us etc until she called her parents and told them what had happened while in their SUV - then she wanted us to all shake hands and leave. um no. near death experiences make you a bit more stubborn.

Same situation as reported above - first person to the desk sgt gets to tell their side of the story - and we were first because I knew how this works. I was surprised the young woman even showed up. Desk Sgt took a L O N G While to actually look up. We filled out the paperwork and then the Desk Sgt did lecture the young woman (18 year old in parents car) about being a safe non distracted driver. So much for the distracted driving law after she admitted to being on her phone when she drifted into the lane and rubbed the saddle bags of the 1st bike and trying to take a picture when she cut me off and hit my bike.

Insurance said the same thing - police reports in Chicago are not worth the paper they are written on - nothing happened except our insurance paid for the damage that she did to our bikes and we wait for the premiums to go up.

I hear the dialing all night with little with no time in between. Not sure who or where or even why, this is going on. Just an FYI if you have a unit that faces the street and you're window is open, everyone else on that street with their window open can hear you! Well i might add! Looking for a Sublet for June, July, August

Last night I found out after having to wait for days that my sublet fell through. Now, I am desperately seeking a sublet. If there is anything out there for the 3 months furnished, unfurnished. Studio, 1 br. I am grateful. I have a little dog and I can afford at max. $ 900.00, while I am finishing my last full time semester in Graduate school and transitioning from part time to full time work. I have good credit.

  • No more than 900.00. I think the deposit for having a dog is 200.00. I should know within a day or two if it will be available. It's a great place. Very clean and spacious feeling. The guy just isn't sure of his plans just yet. Don't want to get your hopes up.

  • I have something that may fit the bill. contact at 773-908-8002

Ignorant Landlord

My daughter has a serious bedbug problem, that somehow started in the apartment building that she lives in. It has been reported to the city, by calling 311. The landlord has been notified on numerous occasions and still has done nothing. Inspector came out and said apartment underneath is totally infested. Daughter has two small boys. It's an extremely frustrating situation. Landlord is not doing anything, and basically told them to move. Does anyone know anything or anyone that can help please.
Thankypu

Would you mind telling me on which street(s) this building is on? So other tenets can do something too.

  • I can't speak for the original poster, but I live on the 1700 block of W. Wallen. The condo board has already been cited by the city over 6 month ago and so far has done nothing to take care of the multiple violations, including bedbug infestation. So, if you think calling the city is going to solve your problem, think again. Definitely report it to the city, but don't expect things to be resolved with any urgency.
