Did you lose these glasses???

These reading glasses were found on our front steps a few days before the recent election so I'm assuming it might have been a campaign worker. If they are yours please message me or pick them up 7121 n Oleander.

Congrats Anthony!

Good luck Napolitano. Way to overcome a big budget opponent!

  • I hope he will respond to problems in EP and not be another do nothing politician. O'Connor had a horrible staff with bad phone manners not to me but many of my elderly neighbors complained about it.

poor reception on Channel 5 tv with antenna

I'm trying to cut the cable & bought an HD Mohu leaf indoor antenna. I thought I'd have a problem getting reception on Ch2 but was surprised to find the problem is Ch5. Every time a jet flies over, the picture pixilates & audio freezes. I'm wondering if others with antennas have experienced this. Also wondering if anyone knows if placing an HD antenna on my roof would fix the problem.

  • joanie 20+ year Resident of Jefferson Park

I have the same problem with antennae reception when the planes fly over. I'm in a condo and hooked up to the common antennae on the rooftop. My wifi also experiences some freeze-ups too. Last Friday night, I gave up on watching Amazing Race, CBS, because the reception was so bad.

  • Ruth J long time resident

I appreciate the feedback. I kept wondering if the problem was the type of antenna, or the location of the antenna, or the location of the property...but from the responses it seems to be all of the above.

Please vote! Napolitano for 41st ward. We need a change. Someone who will respond, not just ignore or defer.

And someone will be a strong voice for our residents. I do not work for our city. I understand our city finances are tough, including the pension funds. But, as part of any debate, the 41st ward alderman MUST MUST MUST be a srong representative and strong advocate for the many in our ward that protect our city's streets, fight our city's fires, teach our city's children, and work in other various jobs to make our city a better place.

We understand that these people work hard, have important and often dangerous jobs, and sacrifice greatly for our city. And they absolutely signed up for those things. But they were also promised something in return. Part of ANY debate must be advocates for all that they do, and the very reasonable overall compensation package they receive.

I hope Napolitano wins, and I believe he would be a much stronger voice on this and other issues. Let's be honest, he can't do anything but improve. It is impossible to be more of a Rahm mouthpiece than O'Connor is. I also hope he partners with other NW side aldermen (45, 36, 48, etc) and some SW side alderman (Midway area, Beverly/Mt.Greenwood) to together have a block of 6-8 aldermen who can band together to advocate for our city's valuable hard workers.

If those workers lose a considerable amount of their overall compensation package, the 41st ward will be GREATLY negatively impacted. They will have far less buying power to support our businesses. Future city workers will be less able to afford living in the ward, which will greatly reduce our property values. Plus, it's simply wrong.

As much as I hate Rahm, he wouldn't be nearly as bad if we had a city council that actually did their job. By electing Napolitano, I'm confident we will at least have a representative that does his.

  • Typo, I meant "38," not 48. Have no clue where the 48th ward is.
