We all know that this is a joke; it's already a done deal. However, we should go make some noise, shouldn't we?

Notice of Important Community Meeting Regarding the Southeast Corner of
Devon and McCormick

Monday, April 20, 2015
6:30 pm
West Ridge Elementary School
6700 N. Whipple

Alderman Silverstein has called this meeting to gauge community support for plans to remove the eyesore at this intersection that has existed for most of a decade.

It is crucial that you attend this meeting to show your support for the renewal of this western gateway to West Rogers Park. YOU will make a difference by being there!

The same people own the theater and car wash lot, right? The school. They are saying they have to turn the theater into a storage unit because there is not enough parking for anything else.

I'm not understanding why they don't sell the car wash/lot with the theater building?

  • Paco 50thWardFollies.com

Good question. I hope you'll come to Monday's meeting.

Hello neighbors, any idea when street sweepers will be coming down north at louis ave off of peterson? Currently out of town until the 25 and don't want to come home to a ticket.

  • robin in WRP Feelin' Feisty

The city's alert system is surprisingly accurate. Sign up here: http://sweeparound.us/

  • Thanks guys! I would call but rates are incredibly high at 2.99 a minute, plus new to the city I don't know who my alderman is yet... But the sweep around us helped! Thank you so much!

DUMPSTER in front of Decatur Classical School

To anyone driving down Sacramento in front of the Decatur Classical School around 8 am to 8:20 am as well as during school pick up from 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm, I'd like to alert everyone to please take caution driving down that street. There is a large dumpster callously parked in front of the school's main cross-walk. Motorists and buses have to squeeze into 1 lane during those times. Also, motorists going north on Sacramento will not see children...

Also, motorists going north on Sacramento will not see children crossing in front of that dumpster. IT IS VERY UNSAFE for our school kids!

It's best to avoid that street all together around these times to prevent a traffic bottle neck.

We have alerted the Alderman and hopefully this issue will be addressed asap! I'll be posting a photo or video tomorrow.

Congratulations. It's unfortunate that the Chicago Park District does not publicize good news like this. It's not even listed in the News section of the Park District's home page on the web. They have not even publicized Governor Rauner's freezing of State grants that will affect a total of 27 Chicago projects at 25 parks across Chicago which stand to lose $28 million for scheduled improvements. “The Governor talks about a shared sacrifice, but his budget and decisions to freeze previously awarded grants ask the children and families of Chicago to do all of the sacrificing,” said Mayor Emanuel.

Excitement in the 43rd

Congratulations to Caroline Vickrey, a West Ridge native, on her work to bring Michele Smith to a runoff! Throughout the city change is desperately needed and Lincoln Park is no exception. The hard work didn't stop on Tuesday though and I have faith that the 43rd Ward will get the alderman they deserve!

Another West Rogers Park fire

6400 block N. Seeley, what is happening around here that there are so many fires? Be safe firefighters!

  • Michael Archangel Just trying to balance out the "haters"

This really cold weather brings out those space heaters. Radiant heaters, in particular, can ignite objects placed in close proximity. Certainly understandable that people want to stay warm but extra caution has to be exercised.

  • Such a good reminder, thank you
