Snow Storm

Snow storms in Chicago are political makers or breakers. Thus far, neither the mayor or the 9th ward alderman is looking good.

Have you been hiding under a rock or asleep the past few year ?
The city is now divided into grids that parallel the city's police districts, so the alderman, nowadays, has nothing to do with the distribution of Streets and Sanitation (Snow Removal Department) resources.
Sorry, you have to find another thing to rant about re: the alderman.

Thanks, Jeff for your comment. The schedule is supposed to be major roadways and critical public services buildings first. Next the side streets are ordered by the day of the week that your garbage pickup occurs. Mine is Mondays. So it would stand to reason that at sometime on Monday my side street (which is in front of a public school) should have been plowed. It was not. What does the alderman have to do with it? In this ward, the alderman has direct communication with our streets & sanitation. Which means that since s/he lives in this ward, someone from that office would check to make sure the streets are being taken care of. He told us during his recent debates that he ensures that his ward gets the appropriate city services. Perhaps that is not the norm?
