Western/Jackson Police Activity

Today in the morning, around 9:30 am, there were about 8 cop cars and multiple police officers on Jackson Ave (west of western). There is a park being built around there and the police were across the street surveying the empty lot. Anyone know what happened? I work at a school nearby and like to know what's going on in the neighborhood.

  • we need change CLEAN-UP THE CORNERS

I hate to even drive through that corridor. It seems like there's at least one shooting there per week and usually during daytime/early evening. I just don't understand this city and how they allow such disruption to go on, unchecked.

Find out how taxes/TIFs in the 27th Ward have been spent

Just saw this and thought others might be interested.

There is a free meeting about how our taxes/TIFs in the 27th Ward have been spent and allocated, and more. The meeting is on Thursday, November 6, from 6:30pm - 8:30pm, at 1044 W Randolph St.

I’ve always wondered where our taxes were going, how it was being spent, and whether it was being spent on things needed, like parks, schools, traffic relieve.

The meeting is being hosted by Gabe Beukinga, candidate for 27th Ward Alderman, and Tom Tresser of the CivicLab TIF Illumination Project.

There was a vacancy sign in the front window. The boys jumped the fence in the rear and attempted to kick the back door in before they were chased away by the owner. The boys ran towards the 3300 block W on Carroll. Be on the look out for these (3) boys. The smaller one had a maroon jacket, khaki pants and new white low-cut gym shoes. The second one had on a light gray hoodie jacket with black pants. The third one had on a green hoodie jacket with brown pants. They were cleanly dressed. One of them was so small with brown and blonde short dreads, he fit through the separation of the fence. The other (2) are slender and taller.

  • Ope new

I hope the police soon arrest these boys. Someone is going to get hurt eventually.

  • gpblight 15 Yr East Garfield Resident

YES, if someone is in your home...DON'T walk in! A few years ago a woman walked into her house and an intruder was there. He stabbed her 17 times and she was in the hospital because of that attack.

Have heard that robberies are on the upswing. Someone should send this EB thread to both the 11th and 12th Police Districts.

Caught Red Handed/changing timing on yellow lights

Has anyone gotten a red light ticket where the time was less than the 3 seconds allowed by law?

The city will KEEP the ill gotten funds.

Red light cameras continue to be a problem for car drivers in Chicago.

As traffic violations affect insurance rates. As it is expensive to pay a ticket, the fines, and school...this action against Chicago drivers should be addressed by ALL Aldermen!

Get the $$ back for those who were ticketed illegally!

What do others think? Have any of us gotten one of those bogus tickets?

It is true that MAIL can be terrible in Chicago. Who knows if it is a postal fiasco or another systemic failure in Chicagos' parking tickets.

THANKS for the response. Ask Jackiowak if she can look into it. If it is a system failure, we can also send to the DOIT top person. Department of Information technology and the Inspector general. The Trib also has investigators who might be interested in your case as DATA to support their claims about Chicago Parking Tickets.

There is also a head of the parking tickets. He should look into if their lock box person dropped the ball or the mail. That person has the authority to do that. I used to know the guy...he was WONDERFUL. But he is gone now. The question is, Who replaced Mat D?
