What's your view

As I look out my window, I was wondering what do my neighbors see out of their windows. Are there sights that bother you and ones that you love? There is a tree in the next yard that crows live in, I find them fascinating. Next to that is a garage that has never been finished. It is half sided and half roofed, has been that way for years.

  • The view out our window is the construction on the Bloomingdale Trail.
While I'm sure it will be beautiful to look at once it's done, it's kind of an eye sore right now.

Out of our dining room window we have a great view of the Sears tower at Homan Square. I'm happy it is being restored.

Standing on Exchange Avenue at 81st Street, looking up at the police helicopter, was the first time I didn't feel like I was in Chicago.

"Bad Landlords"

Some of you may have heard by now that the City is planning on posting a list of "Bad Landlords". Granted there may a few here and there. However, I feel that if the city post a list of "Bad Landlords then there should be a list for "Terrible Tenants" as well!

The world is just a different place than 50 years ago. The internet has changed everything, Email has changed everything. Hackers have changed everything. Revolution is just not the same anymore with all the media stuff facebook, twitter, etc.

Things are just different and a trillion dollars could travel round the world with the click of a mouse in a second. THINK on how fast that is! Things that were a twinkle in someones' eye can be a 3 dimensional item within hours thanks to 3d printing.

Things are just different, faster, maybe better and maybe worse. It is hard to sort out but one must do the best they can.

In 50 years China built itself up into a superpower. In the same 50 years the south and west sides of Chicago cratered to unlivable conditions where 1/3 of the population has fled to the suburbs. 1.2 million have left; most in minority neighborhoods because living conditions are the worst.

When I attended the CAPS meeting we were assured that the assailant and the "problem" was from the west side and would be staying there. The officers assured us that there was not an uptick in gang crime in this part of the 9th. Actually many types of crime were down compared to a year ago some of them in half.

Maybe next election!

I have read a look of post in regards to replacing Alderman Ervin in this up coming election. From what I've read It seems like we'll be stuck with Erivn for another four years.
Going forward I think the plan now should be selecting a qualified candidate and we all rally behind that one person. Get that person out there so that he/she can gain some notoriety.
Also, After reading a lot of the posts it seems like there maybe serval candidate among the group?

I absolutely agree. I'd like to see Amara Enyia run for Alderwoman. The only other alternative is to prepare to get the public media involved to put a spotlight on our living conditions. Such as the time when the 2 ladies contacted the local news to expose the heroine smoke den located in the middle of Garfield Park.

We need to prepare to reach out to local media outlets, journalist and the national media outlets as well. We need to put Ward 28 under the spotlight for the next 4 years.

Fioretti as 28th Ward Write In Candidate

Why can't Fioretti be written in as 28th ward alderman? He has no ward, knows the west side and is experienced.

If there are enough illegal actions and convictions...I think one can loose their seat. Then the mayor appoints a candidate.

Not sure how all of that plays out in the legal system.

  • gpblight 15 Yr East Garfield Resident

I don' think you have to foia. I think there are websites that publish donors to candidates. Is moveon.org one of them? Does anyone know what site that would be? If so, please post here.
