Neighborhood kids throwing rocks in yard and jumping on garage roof...

I moved in the Park Manor neighborhood a year and a half ago. Recently, I noticed rocks, glass and other items thrown in my back yard. I figured it was the kids that always play in the alley. Then I saw my garbage cans in front of the garage like someone was using them to climb up so I moved them in the house.

This week I caught 3 boys climbing on the roof of my garage and trying to climb over my gate in daylight saying they were playing hide and seek. I confronted them and told them they can get hurt and to stay off my property..asking them how would they like it if I climbed all over their things. One of them asked if they could climb on my neighbors roof! I asked where they lived and I'm not sure if they even live on on the block across the alley. I think quite a few may live on 72nd Champlain

I came home yesterday to find my deck "egged" by these kids. I called the police and made a report. I am going to invest in a security camera. This is also a security risk for me and my family as they are showing people how to gain access to my home and my neighbors homes.

Are there other neighbors that are experiencing this behavior in the area? If so, do you know who the kids are and what are suggestions of ways to make it stop. I'm going to also reach out to the alderman and the local CAPs office. It's turning out to be a lot that I have to do but I have to do what I have to do and should be able to enjoy the home I purchased and not feel threatened or unsafe for no reason.I love my home and believe in the community but these kids need some parental guidance and some consequences. Thanks! #nohometraining

  • All that psycho-babble is ivy-covering, ivory towered blathering that obfuscates the issue at hand....bad azzed kids from single mothers that need a good azz whoppin'.

There are some sincere parents who have conflicting work schedules and lack of child care. However, there are some parents who place other priorities before their offspring: weed,men/women,soap operas, gossip, etc. I see children with unemployed parents who appear too young to walk the neighborhood alone. I can't count the times where I would see a 5,6, or 7 year old alone, playing at the park. If parents are available to accompany their own children places, they have a legal and moral obligation to do so. That's just pure laziness! The lazy parents need to stop trying to shift their responsibilities on others, such as their parents or grandparents.
