change in ward 13

Who else think that we need a change from the status quo. sound off here and let your voice be heard.

  • Also what special interest are you referring to, Carlos?

  • Like the TIF fund which is supposed to be used for underachieving wards and its use instead to support the mayor own interests.

Call 311 if you got Water In Basement

Call 311 or go on-line too 311 service request. The service requests are in alpha order therefore Water In a Basement is down in the W's (so don't give up you'll find the correct choice).

By documenting on-line, you receive a transaction number which enables you to follow up with 311. Use this method for all service requests, and there are many many service requests to choose from.

Also if you got water in your basement and a nearby sewer runs slow or not at all document that also.

  • 311 enables everyone to report a non-emergency. If you posted water in the basement on-line, the drop down box will provide all the requests that a person can make. But I can name a few. Backed up sewer, abandoned car, tree trimming, reporting a vacant or abandoned building, street light...

When you report to 311 request services on-line, you will receive an email confirmation and a text message that thanks you and reads "your participation helps builds a new Chicago, Mayor Emanual". So see, this is our way of letting the higher ups know what is happening in our community and that is important!

Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

We have all been affected with flooding, sewers backed up, ect,,, What should the Water Reclamation do for us? I visited their web-site and it was very difficult to get any information from.

I just heard that the commissioner is leaving his post to be an alderman replacing a alderman who has post traumatic stress disorder.

Besides that, shouldn't we be watching over this department to fix our water problems ?

  • Ever since they put the restrictions in the sewer we have been having this problem. I have lived I my house for over 25 years never had a problem. Now when it rains my streets look like a lake and I now get water in my basement. What happen to the deep tunnel?

63rd and Cicero

Does anybody know why a right turn only lane was not incorporated when the SE corner of 63rd and Cicero was redeveloped into green space? Please do not say because of the CTA.

There is so much space and a right turn only would have prevented long travel backups on Cicero Avenue and prevented grand central station on 64th and Kilpatrick, then through the alley over to Knox where people turn north on a one way street south, then out to 63rd, illegally potentially causing an accident.

Please do not say that the one wa

Sewer hasn't drained in over 5 years

Location is on the side of a corner house at 6359 S Knox. The drain surface is kept free of debris. Everyone has called every department. Many many times we've called 311, the Ward Office, streets and sans. The trucks have come out but they do nothing. I expect to receive a call if it's been checked out with any resolution. It smells so bad. What can we do to find out how this is going to be resolved, does anybody know?

  • I think everybody is busy cleaning the flooding in the neighborhood thus no response yet to my comment. A house near the sewer that never drains got flooded by. 6 feet or so as well as many other neighbors including self.

I think everybody is busy cleaning the flooding in the neighborhood thus no response yet to my comment. A house near the sewer that never drains got flooded by. 6 feet or so as well as many other neighbors including self.

I do not know why the blocks nearby this smelly mildew sewer are not provided with a flyer or letter from the city/streets n sanitation providing us a description of the problem and resolution.

About a year ago a sewer nearby didn't drain for years and something was done to fix it after years of calling and I think they discovered the problem of both sewers but nobody knows. I don't know why the city doesn't want to communicate to it's neighbors.

between 60th and 63rd street on Keating, Kilpatrick and Knox the sewer system was replaced. Did anybody flood there before and/or after the sewers were replaced?

  • I know of at least 2 peolpe who flooded in 6200 block of Kilpatrick and Keating also someone in the 6300 Keating. Have you tried calling the Water Department sewere division?

  • No, but I will. If you mean Nick, yes I have, if not, than can you provide a name and number?

Called the police X 2, Never showed up!

So last night, across the alley from my home, someone was breaking the windows out of a vacant home...I called the police & the dispatcher said a car would be sent. Fast-forward, 20 minutes, the vandalist(s) are really breaking up the place & I call the police again...The dispatcher says, I see your location as further east that what you are telling me, are you sure of the address? DUH! I've lived there for 15 years, I think I know my address! LONG STORY SHORT....No police showed up!

  • And also the one taking the 911 call is not a dispatcher it is a call taker. And make sure you are specific when you call. And please do attend your CAPS meeting

  • 30+ yrs Long-time resident, trying to help keep it livable

Former Aldermanic Candidate for Chicago’s 23rd Ward, Anna Corral, endorses and joins Martin Arteaga’s for 23rd Ward Alderman campaign.

Corral, a health professional and community activists in the south west side of Chicago, had previously launched her campaign for Alderman in the 23rd ward. After several conversations and meetings with the Arteaga Campaign, Corral decided to “join forces” and work together to bring the much needed change in the 23rd ward.
“I found myself asking people to support my campaign or Martins. It was clear Martin had an organized campaign team and support from all over Chicago. Joining forces to work together for the 23rd ward and bring the change we need from the current administration made sense.” Said Corral.

Corral will join the Arteaga campaign as Community Outreach Director. “Having Anna’s endorsement and join our team is an honor. She cares a lot about the people in the 23rd Ward and like my self is a concerned parent and citizen who is tired of seeing the communities of the 23rd Ward being neglected.”

The 23rd Ward includes Midway International Airport and parts of Garfield Ridge, Clearing, Archer Heights and West Elsdon. But in the 2015 election, the ward also will spread south and east to take in parts of West Lawn, Chicago Lawn and other neighborhoods. The reconfigured 23rd Ward will see its Hispanic population jump from about 47 percent to around 67 percent.

I've worked for the City of Chicago for 15 years, as a watchman, laborer, and the last 5 years as a ward coordinator under the Department of Street and Sanitation.  As a ward coordinator I was on the frontlines and had a chance to work closely with the Ward's Alderman. I had an Opportunity to be at the Alderman's side and assist in the day to day operation of a Chicago City Ward. I've been active in politics for the last 30 years from the grassroots up and am no stranger to Chicago politics.

I'm currently seeking to run for the seat of Alderman of the 13 Ward. I've lived there with my wife Kathy and 4 sons for 13 years. I'm currently a volunteer patient advocate at the University of Illinois Medical Campus. My goals for the 13th ward includes preventing violence in our community, providing vital services, and cleaning up our neighborhood, to bring a real change to the City of Chicago, and by offering my experience to better serve our community.

Morally corrupt! come on. In 2011, one of the candidates against Quinn didn't file the correct paper work, so he was removed from the ballot by the Election board and the other candidate didn't have enough signatures to get on the ballot. Also, I believe they signed the same petition as the Alderman's and perjured oneself. And was removed by the Chicago Board of Elections which is independent of Mike Madigan and anyone you think is conspiring to not have somebody on the ballot.

Lifelong, I think you need to take a course in politics. Politics 101.

If you decide to run for office you have to follow the rules. Plain and simple.

Your pathetic and a cry baby.

Again, if the service office responds to your requests, isn't that what they are supposed to do?
I think we are both expressing ourselves, don't get offended if I just do not agree with you.

Walgreens on 79th & Pulaski

Does anyone know what is going on with this Walgreens Store? It looks closed, Red Box is also shut down.

  • Alisia Killer Tees Custom Apparel

Yes, they closed this location down on July 17th. There's another store at 79th & Western, which is the location I frequent the most personally. It's easy in & out parking lot if you drive and there's a bus depot a block away that the #79 bus drops you at if you're coming from Pulaski down 79th st, about a 3 minute walk from the depot to the store. There's no Redbox there though. I think the next closest Redbox is in Jewel at 79 & Cicero.

  • They were getting robbed blind....!!!

Computer Fraud

I've been receiving calls from 953-267-6390 pretending to be from Windows Operating System. They are very hard to understand but the caller wants me to go to my computer and they will show me what is wrong with me computer. I don't think you gave out too much information. Giving out information is like opening or locking your front door. If someone wants in. They are going to get in.
Mostly you lock the door to keep the casual goofs from messing with your world.
Of course those goofs can do a lot of damage if they use a sledgehammer on your door.....or on your Visa card.

I would not tell them that I have a 1,500.00 Apple computer instead of a regular 500.00 computer but....they don't care what kind of computer we have....they want our Visa number....then they can buy many computers. Thanks neighbors! Pat B.
