Neighbors

A question a friend recently posted on her facebook page received a lot of interesting replies. Thought i'd post it here and see if it would have the same effect:

"Do you have a close relationship with your neighbors? Hate your neighbors? Or never look their way & ignore them ( keep to yourself & avoid all contact ) ?"

  • Good morning Todd, I can see you that have your dealt with your fair share of absentee landlords and their tenants. Is there anything that one can do to get these absentee landlords to be responsibe for their properties?

Photograph every building/street/sanitation issue, video violations of noise ordinance, loitering, littering etc and send off the evidence to all interested parties (ie gov dept(s), management company, landlord) with notations of date(s), time(s) of day and if known, the name(s) of the individual(s) who are trashing the block/property(s).

  • I could care less about the politics involved, it could be Bush's library for all I care. I support it only because of the economic benefit it will have on he surronding communities. Economic development doesnt just happen the library will be the spark to jump start it. At the very least those long vacant lots will finally be developed.

I'm not a psychic but i think UofC will pick UofC. As for a prime location that would have the most positive economic impact and be the most readily accessible via CTA/Metra-train, car, bike and foot for UofC students as well as the rest of Chicagoland, Midway and Ohare... i think it's a toss up between Kenwood, Washington Park and Woodlawn. The later, of course being the most preferable... again for obvious reasons, but i'm just a bit bias. ;D

Aldermen Give Themselves a Raise

Looks like 22 of 50 aldermen rejected a 2015 salary increase in light of the city's gross financial troubles. http://www.chicagotribune.com/chi-chicago-aldermen-salaries-20141126-htmlstory.html Alderman Cochran is among the 28 aldermen who granted themselves pay increases.

  • Then you should clean your ears because your aren't hearing correctly. Since your so enlightned why dont you run? You should have no problem taking advantage of the "ignorance in your community" and getting elected. Its a formula that has worked for yrs. Good Luck!

  • Sorry...for one thing, that salary would represent a significant pay cut for me.
Furthermore, there is not enough money to make it worth having to deal with a ward full of ignorant people 24/7.

    No thanks.....
