Who's "Kevin Bailey for 20th Ward"

I've never heard of Kevin Bailey until today, when i saw his campaign poster stapled to a boarded-up greystone up the block from me.

  • JD Concerned Citizen in the 20th Ward

    Amen.

    Awomen.

  • JD Concerned Citizen in the 20th Ward

    . . . and on a related note -

CTU President Karen Lewis will be in The Grand Ballroom tomorrow (Saturday, January 24th) at 11 o'clock, participating in a rally for mayoral candidate Jesus Garcia. It will be very interesting to see which candidates for 20th Ward alderman have the guts to stand with her. ('Anybody think the incumbent will be there, even though his office is on the 1st floor - directly under The Grand Ballroom?)

Experienced Handyman needed for Condo Repairs

Hello Neighbors,

I am beginning the search for a new handyman that could assist with a variety of tasks around the house, from floors, to paint, to drywall, and all things in between. Specifically, I'm looking for an experienced, preferably referred, handyman/contractor who is diligent and knowledgeable about condos and have done great work. If the work is great, I could recommend the individual to the association as we are also in search for a new building maintenance person.

Price is obviously a concern for everyone, so someone who's reasonable in rates would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks all, God Bless..

Keeping a Close Eye on CPD's Glenn Evans

I'm not going to bore anyone with the details but I have (as well as many others in the 3rd District) witnessed first hand the abuses of power Commander Evans has delivered over his brief reign in Woodlawn. Now with a new commander at the helm, I'm relieved but only in part. With all the lawsuits and complaints against him, i'm afraid the CPD is going back to their old playbook, tossing him from district to district like a hot...

I'm not going to bore anyone with the details but I have (as well as many others in the 3rd District) witnessed first hand the abuses of power Commander Evans has delivered over his brief reign in Woodlawn. Now with a new commander at the helm, I'm relieved but only in part. With all the lawsuits and complaints against him, i'm afraid the CPD is going back to their old playbook, tossing him from district to district like a hot potato. If anyone knows his current tour-of-duty please let me know. I want to insure that his past follows him and catches up with him sooner then later.. As of yet, to the best of my research, he has been named a defendant in six different lawsuits over the course of his career.

Commander Evans did a good job in reducing crime at the 11th District. He was the first who had the strategies that worked and held the staff accountable...as opposed to letting them spend their days/nights.."driving by"

I would imagine that making people do their job is unpopular...as the CTA and CPS news bears out.

The CTA cut loose 10000...now the Greenline/Kedzie stop (4) elevators are not full of urine on the floors and walls. Setting a tone where people work instead of SLACK is a very unpopular thing to do.

I believe the CPS IG is now after those in the school system who have been committing illegal acts; many abscounding with monies that were dedicated to teaching the youth. Those kids of employees should be fired AND their pensions taken away.

Turning a blind eye to corruption has gone on for far too long in Chicago..

We are entering a new era of the Police against the Public and vice versa. That is a terrible place to be for civilians who need the service. Those who do work slowdowns or violate their oath as officers should also be CUT LOOSE and booted off the force.

Shows of force are a terrible waste of taxpayer $$. Did 200 show up for the lone shooter who shot his boss downtown last summer? What a waste.

The Mayor, the Union Bosses, The Superintendents/Commissioners need to think about the TAXPAYER whose monies are wasted with gross inefficiencies.

The staff truly provides a safe, fun environment where my kids can express themselves creatively, make new friends, and adjust to spending part of the day without my husband and I. The teachers are enthusiastic, creative, and, above all, have displayed a love of early childhood education. As an administrator with the Chicago Public School System, I was initially reluctant in enrolling my children in a newly established Child Care Center, but I am extremely happy I did. I would definitely recommend Tiny Scholars Academy if you work or reside in the area!
