Does any one know what is going up near 63rd and Kostner, where the old man's barber shop used to be? I heard a pizza place.

  • St Turibius School reviewed by a parent

This school has been a nightmare for over 2 years. They have let go of a lot of great teachers and continue to disappoint children academically. They might as well be public school for their out dated curriculum. They are disorganized and for the money I spent at this school and seeing the results of my kid's education, I am seeing it now with all the tutoring I am doing. It all starts with the principal of that school. If anyone is to blame it is her.

Looking for Gutter Cleaner

I need someone to clean gutters for a Cape Cad Residence.

Also need owner supplied gutter guards snapped into gutters afterwards.

Would like down spouts detached as well.

  • Good idea before winter sets in and to avoid issues! Mario's Cleaning Service does gutter cleaning for a reasonable price. Call Manuel at 708-277-8922. Gutter guards can be purchased at business on West 63rd Street, north side of street before the railroad tracks before Harlem Avenue. The price is reasonable, good quality and by a long length.

  • If you still need work done I'd be interested

Mandy is right and I’m old. I transferred out of Catholic and into Public in 4th grade. I was held back. In pubic they have low, middle and high for each grade. It was much more difficult. I started kindergarten at age 4 because of the birthday cut off. My biggest hurdle in public school was placement because I was always smallest and youngest. I also transferred schools in 7th grade and had the same problem with them placing me in low then proving I belonged in high. So, I was challenged academically and loved every minute of it. In Catholic School, you have no place to go but along with the curriculum.

If you want a good school, you find out where the politicians send their children then get your kids enrolled. My older brother’s kids went to a magnet school and are all successful. They throw them up on stage in first grade and have them give speeches in the auditorium in front of the entire student body. It builds confidence and character.

There’s also a public high school on the south side that has successful alumni. I want to say near Hyde Park? I can’t remember the name of it now but it has an incredible record for the most students that graduated then went onto successful careers. I believe the students are mostly black and our Chief Judge graduated from there.

  • Thank you Mandy, for some reason I can't press the button?

  • All they have to do is sell one painting from the Vatican, keep them all open then dry up their tears. Of course, DNAinfo is a slanted news source and how do we know if this is true or how your reporter feels?
