Maracas is open

A new Latin restaurant, Maracas, recently opened in Bronzeville. People should give it a try. I hope to stop by next week.

http://www.suntimes.com/lifestyles/28320016-423/the-312-founder-of-boriqua-chicks-open-latin-restaurant-maracas-in-bronzeville.html

  • Tried Maracas last week. We had the empanadas (? Spelling) dinner. The flavor was good but they may have been over cooked because the crust was dark and a little dry. The price $8 included two empanadas over a bed of rice & beans with a side of plantines and mango sauce. I look forward to trying other items on the menu. Time correction, they close at 8pm on Saturdays.

  • Juan from South Loop 13 year South Loop resident

I tried Maracas today. I had the Beef Steak with Yellow Rice. The flavor was nice and the portions was good. The steak could have been a little more tender but was still very good. Look forward to trying the Beef stew on my next visit.

35th st. Pedestrian Bridge set to begin construction next week

With improvements at Lake Meadows, repaving of King dr., scheduled repaving of 35th you could say we are on the fast track of infrastructure improvement.

  • I think the word that needs to be defined is HIJACK - take over (something) and use it for a different purpose.

thatblow1, minor correction on your 4 points perspective- The name is Bronzeville Curmudgeon. Not to be confused with Brownsville, which I think is a suburb of New York city.

Promontory Restaurant/Bar to Open Shortly Before the Apocalypse

Oft-delayed restaurant and live music venue, Promontory, is scheduled to open as the End of Days approaches, according to informed sources. "Our two outdoor patios will offer splendid views of the Four Horsemen as they ride in to lay waste to humanity," said an unnamed soon to be out of work employee. "Try our BBQ" he added.

  • I don't have an email address or # I would like to give out over social media either. :-(
Too bad this site doesn't have a private room option or something.

  • zgwarnki Now, I can say Kenwood. Thanks, Obama!

Well, this is a tad frustrating. Can't you just add me to the list as zgwarnki and I'll bring the scarf I am wearing in the picture or something?

Well a new day is dawning in Bronzeville, and all you Jamaican foods style buisness owners and you know who you are, your days for exploiting this community are numbered. There is a new community coming into Bronzeville and we don't want exploitation, we want retail, and we know how to get it. These loiterers that linger all day outside your buisnesses well we are tired of it, and I think our Aldermen are maybe getting on the same page as us and if that happens that would really put this on the fast track to solving what everybody knows is keeping us from moving forward.

THe city is spending tens of thousands of tax dollars on the corner curb replacement on King; meanwhile the street in the 3500 block has been flooding for years. Priorities??

    Dear Ms. Dahmani,

On behalf of The Barack Obama Foundation, I thank you for your interest in hosting the Barack Obama
    Presidential Library.

A Presidential Library is the single most visible symbol of the legacy and aspirations of the President
whose name it bears. Yet, its function is more than symbolic. A Presidential Library is a space for learning
and dialogue. It is a global destination, a community asset, and a laboratory for ideas. It is a source of
inspiration for citizenship and engagement. Above all, a Presidential Library is as complex, as joyous, and
as significant as the ideals it embodies.

The enclosed Request for Qualifications is the first step along a historic path. The document is thorough
but intentionally open-ended; its goal is to inspire, not to prescribe. Likewise, while we expect responses
to be thoughtful and detailed, we encourage creative solutions in the spirit of civic innovation that has
    marked Barack Obama’s presidency.

The Request contains specific instructions for submissions as well as background information. An
appendix details design requirements. Responses are due no later than June 16, 2014.
responses in the appropriate format should be sent to:

    Robert F. Bauer
    General Counsel
    The Barack Obama Foundation
    13th
    Street NW, Suite 600
    Washington, DC 20005

Digital versions should be uploaded to a secure FTP location and links forwarded to
info@obamapresidentialfoundation.org. For questions regarding process or content, please contact
Robbin Cohen, Acting Executive Director, at rcohen@obamapresidentialfoundation.org.

As Chairman of the Foundation, I am honored to contribute to the formation of the Barack Obama
Presidential Library, and I look forward to receiving your input and ideas on this important endeavor.
