Oprah has Left Chicago

I note that Oprah Winfrey has now completely left Chicago, turning her filthy rich back on our City and the Black African American Community.

Oprah has closed her Harpo Chicago studios and now does not employ anyone in Chicago

Oprah has gone completely LA/Hollywood, choosing to hang out with the Left coast media elite. Oprah now lives in a Zip code where there are virtually NO Black African Americans.

Oh, but she still claims to be a great champion of the Black African American masses... .she just chooses not to employ any Black African Americans.

Good bye Oprah, you will not be missed.

Bronzeville will continue to improve thanks to the hard work of good people who live and work here, who care about the neighborhood and our city.

  • Alan, if that's the best post you have ever read you need to get out more. Oprah made the West loop what it is today. That and about a million other good things that I can eloborate on if necesary when I have more energy.

I made positive comments about Magic Johnson investing in underserved Black African American communities, making honest profits by running successful movie theaters. I tried to compare and contrast the positive business actions of Magic Johnson as opposed to the negative, divest and hang out in LA and New York actions of Oprah Winfrey.

Unfortunately this week the Tribune reported that Magic Johnson gave over 200,000 to the election campaign of Mayor Rahm Emannual and Magic Johnson was apparently rewarded with an insider deal of over $100 million for one of his companies to do janitorial work in Chicago public schools.

This isn't honest, investing in the urban community business - this is:

    Crony Capitalism.

Something we might expect in a corrupt third world nation.

I apologize for writing positively about Magic Johnson.

New Restaurant at Munchies Location

Hi Neighbors,

Just want to let you know there's a new restaurant coming into the old Munchies location. They are doing work on the space now. It's called Yassa and is Senegalese food. Looks good and this will be there second location I believe.

  • I like the Nem rolls too. They are delicious!

  • Good morning everyone. Very nice staff at Yassa. The only problem I had was that I follow the Bible's dietary law and selected a dish with chicken & fish. When I stirred it, there was shrimp in it and that was not listed in the dish's description on the menu. For someone allergic to shrimp, that could've been deadly. Although I brought it to their attention, the menu hasn't changed to mention shrimp in that dish.
