Notice concerning a Clean Energy Option letter that you may have received. The following is the response from Gabel Associates (the Township's energy aggregation team)

With regard to the Clean Energy Option letter that many customers have received, we got a very quick response from JCP&L/PSE&G about the legitimacy of this letter. They have indicated that this letter has no connection to JCP&L. PSE&G has even gone so far as to notify the BPU of this scam letter and has issued a cease and desist letter to Clean Energy Option. It appears to be a coincidence that customers are receiving this letter at the same approximate time as the JCP&L enrollment letter, but a further investigation may give us more information.

With that said - we can very confidently tell customers to disregard this letter and if they wish to remain in the SHREC CEA program they should NOT send back their customer information on the bottom of the letter.

  • They have been calling (alot) also with this scam,

  • I got a letter yesterday. I knew something was fishy when 1) it was addressed to my daughter and the light bill isn't in her name and 2) our last name was misspelled. If it was legit, it would have been addressed to me with the correct spelling of my last name. I threw it away.

  • Our backyard faces the big H shaped alley between 19th and Cullerton from Loomis to Throop. The 5 cats are either in our backyard (right behind Loomis) or in the backyard of the new building that faces Cullerton. There is a fake little wooden fence between the new building and the abandoned building next to it that the cats knock over when they jump over it.

Does This Happen Often?

It has come to my attention that a Gen-Y visitor to Tower 4 on South Prairie took his own life by jumping from the 35th floor, and landing in the (empty) swimming pool on the 6th level (top of the parking podium). I believe this was the morning of Tuesday, the 10th.

Hazmat crews were working at the building yesterday.

I've seen nothing in the media about it. Are high-rise jumpers common to be "un-news worthy"?

Jeffrey, I think the idea is that depression can cause the person to feel hopeless so having suicide in front of you in that state makes it a more likely option. I have no idea if that's true or not. I see the youth violence a bit differently. That seems like much more a societal rather than medical issue and not sure it originates from seeing kids killed on the news but rather what these kids see on their street corners.

I do wish the topic of suicide was much more prevalent in our society. It happens so often and yet people don't know that. It makes me wonder if perhaps we would be less judgmental and more connected if we realized there are so many around us that see only death as an option.

  • Jeffrey Booker 40 years in Chicago; the city does not work well.

Bow Truss Pilsen's Windows Covered With Anti-Gentrification Signs

Customers take down paper Friday morning while owner ponders who put them up.

Some folks in Pilsen decided to make an example on Thursday night of Bow Truss Coffee Roasters while sharing their views on gentrification.

Customers and workers at the coffee shop woke up Friday morning to find their windows covered with cardboard construction paper signs. The signs included phrases like: "Wake up & smellllll the gentrification," and "fresh roasted gentrification served here!"

Bow Truss in August opened in Pilsen and owner Phil Tadros runs two other coffee shops and has plans for two more. He said some customers removed the paper Friday morning and has no leads on the vandals responsible. There was no damage to the shop and no need to file a police report, Tadros added.
Pilsen has been subject of gentrification concerns as demographics have shifted in recent years from a primary Mexican immigrant population. Folks have pondered the negative and positive effects on the community.

But what's with picking on coffee shops this week? Albeit it was somewhat canibalistic, on Thursday Homaro Cantu set up shop outside a nearby Starbucks, and now folks target a Bow Truss to vent about gentrification? Yes, there is a South Park episode on coffee shops.

What do you think? Is there truth behind the signs? Are hipster coffee beans culture's Kryptonite though gentrification? Or is this just vandalism masquerading as a political statement? Maybe this is just all dumb?

I learned a long time ago that there are times when we can't change the mind of another party, so sometimes you have to change how you deal with them.

We live in a diverse community & everyone needs to respect our cultures and our right to "live" without worrying about new, small businesses getting vandalized bc they represent change. For those who want to believe otherwise, then stay on message and focus on what we ALL want to see in a community- safety, families, fun, events, business growth, & wellness all around. Put the focus back on what it is the community needs to flourish. That's always my strategy.....

HusART Design Collective will be hosting the show Friday, March 13th and Sunday, March 15th. Open house from 6:00-9:30pm both evenings. HusART is located at 1800 W. 21st St. #1F, Chicago IL, 60608.
This show is both gripping and inspiring by nature. With paintings, sculptures and multimedia works all designed around the harsh realities of sex trafficking, the show is sure to be one that moves hearts. The content is heavy, but so is the fact that millions of individuals are trapped in slavery still today. Jessica believes that art is a powerful communicator and is passionate about using her abilities to reflect what she believes. In this case, that the evil of trafficking is something we can, and must, all take a stand against. Both nights, the show will feature performances by other local actors and musicians at 7:00 and 8:00pm.
Jessica grew up in the Chicago suburbs and is honored to be making a debut with her artwork in a gallery near home. She recently graduated from Grace College in Indiana with degrees in Drawing & Painting and Intercultural Studies. She was recently on display at Lonnie’s Arts Gallery in Morris, IL and is a resident artist at CLA in Arlington Heights. She is planning to move to Philadelphia shortly where she will further pursue her career in the arts.

Wow- all you guys have conspiracy on the brain. let's back up. I met joe on Sunday evening before flying back to OSU. Nice man, takes things to heart, and means well. I was a little worried because he sent emails to my team asking to help with viaduct projects but has mean comments for people. I can use the help but I cannot have people working who make mean comments. As a side note, I know for a fact BNSF checks anything on the wire related to viaducts. They are not going to associate with a community group with erratic behavior and just insensitive remarks. I looked at his profile at Simone's and saw some of what he has written. I wrote a message and recall "michelle here". Bottom line he is organizing railroad FOIA data for me. He will not be able to play a more public role unless he removes that profile or learns handle comments with a little more grit. Troy I told him you are active in this community and generally a nice man. I would love for all of us to sit down and go through this data together. In fact would love for ALL of us to grab a beer after this election is over.
