http://us8.campaign-archive1.com/?u=e2489bf46a0d5c42a5e06ce3f&id=22632e8564

Drone Media Chicago published this video of a quadcopter flying over the CTA's newest station (number 146, I believe) at 12 E Cermak Rd.

The station, designed by Ross Barney Architects and opened for service on Sunday, February 8, 2015, has a unique tube enclosure that keeps the narrow, center platform free of columns. It's the first fully-enclosed outdoor 'L' station in Chicago.

Wow- all you guys have conspiracy on the brain. let's back up. I met joe on Sunday evening before flying back to OSU. Nice man, takes things to heart, and means well. I was a little worried because he sent emails to my team asking to help with viaduct projects but has mean comments for people. I can use the help but I cannot have people working who make mean comments. As a side note, I know for a fact BNSF checks anything on the wire related to viaducts. They are not going to associate with a community group with erratic behavior and just insensitive remarks. I looked at his profile at Simone's and saw some of what he has written. I wrote a message and recall "michelle here". Bottom line he is organizing railroad FOIA data for me. He will not be able to play a more public role unless he removes that profile or learns handle comments with a little more grit. Troy I told him you are active in this community and generally a nice man. I would love for all of us to sit down and go through this data together. In fact would love for ALL of us to grab a beer after this election is over.

Thank you Alderman Solis

For getting a crew onto our impassable block tonight!. Thank you crew!.
Everyone shoveled out cars and placed snow to side but our
block was still impassable.
People getting stuck and leaving cars for hours.
Thank you Alderman Solis for taking action
when the city would not.
My neighbor is 85 and shovels constantly but the snow was
too piled and we were worried he would not be able to get his wife to hospital tomorrow. He will now. Thank you very much,

Still No plows and no salt

Since the blizzard on our Pilsen block.NOTHING
Streets and San WARD 25 told my neighbor
" You'll get a plow on FRIDAY when you have garbage pick up"

No one can negotiate the deep snow on our block.
I even saw a 4 wheel drive truck struggle.
Our cars are shoveled out and no one can move.
PUBLIC transit/bus service has also been downgraded this
week as many have experienced in long delays,
overcrowded busses.

  • Jason1977 Pretty new to Pilsen

16th street between Halsted and Ashland was plowed at some point yesterday, so hopefully you will be soon! And my garbage (dumpster) pick up is Friday, so I'm not sure that rule holds 100% true.

Sorry, Just realized you were same person I comment on before.

  • The folks downtown don't feel anyone south of Roosevelt votes. Let's shake up these fools and their assumptions later this month. Tuesday, Feb 24th 2015 we will vote all of them out!

CLEARSTREETS.org changed data on plows

FYI; For the last 3 days the only plow reported on the watchdog
CLEARSTREETS.ORG for my block was at %am February 1.

Our block has not been salted or plowed.

After several of us complained to City Hall and the Aldermans
Office the data was changed this afternoon on clearstreets, org
stating a plow was by on February 2nd at 1:30 pm.
We were all out shoveling that afternoon at that specific time
and would have seen a plow. So once again this
watchdog is corrupt: clearstreets.org

  • Jim Reho (a/k/a hodeho) Thirteen-year Brighton Park resident

To my knowledge, clearstreets.org only repackages ("scrapes") the data provided by the City of Chicago. If there is an error on clearstreets.org, it is probably the result of the city providing incorrect information on the Plow Tracker website.

Bow Truss Pilsen's Windows Covered With Anti-Gentrification Signs

Customers take down paper Friday morning while owner ponders who put them up.

Some folks in Pilsen decided to make an example on Thursday night of Bow Truss Coffee Roasters while sharing their views on gentrification.

Customers and workers at the coffee shop woke up Friday morning to find their windows covered with cardboard construction paper signs. The signs included phrases like: "Wake up & smellllll the gentrification," and "fresh roasted gentrification served here!"

Bow Truss in August opened in Pilsen and owner Phil Tadros runs two other coffee shops and has plans for two more. He said some customers removed the paper Friday morning and has no leads on the vandals responsible. There was no damage to the shop and no need to file a police report, Tadros added.
Pilsen has been subject of gentrification concerns as demographics have shifted in recent years from a primary Mexican immigrant population. Folks have pondered the negative and positive effects on the community.

But what's with picking on coffee shops this week? Albeit it was somewhat canibalistic, on Thursday Homaro Cantu set up shop outside a nearby Starbucks, and now folks target a Bow Truss to vent about gentrification? Yes, there is a South Park episode on coffee shops.

What do you think? Is there truth behind the signs? Are hipster coffee beans culture's Kryptonite though gentrification? Or is this just vandalism masquerading as a political statement? Maybe this is just all dumb?

  • These comments are disgusting. Makes one wonder if there ever was a period where the white settler didn't feel entitled to every piece of land and community they come across. They just feel entitled to everything. They think they can own everything. I'm white BTW, before you go on with your accusations of racism. I just see what this is- a continuation of colonial ENTITLEMENT

I learned a long time ago that there are times when we can't change the mind of another party, so sometimes you have to change how you deal with them.

We live in a diverse community & everyone needs to respect our cultures and our right to "live" without worrying about new, small businesses getting vandalized bc they represent change. For those who want to believe otherwise, then stay on message and focus on what we ALL want to see in a community- safety, families, fun, events, business growth, & wellness all around. Put the focus back on what it is the community needs to flourish. That's always my strategy.....

Where to get LOW/COST Spay Neuter

PLEASE help stop the killing of over 20,000 dogs, cats and kitten litters at Chicago Kill shelters like Animal Welfare League ( BOTH LOCATIONS) and Chicago Animal Care and Control , Anti Cruelty Society and near suburban KILL SHELTERS. They are overwhelmed by Chicago residents dumping animals and and Chicagoans dumping puppies and litters at kill shelters.. If you think your surrendered pet will be adopted there is a slim chance at any kill shelter.
Take humane action and give your pet a far healthier life by
having your pet spayed or neutered.
Kittens can be spay/neutered at 8 weeks or 2lbs.
Please do not give kittens away NON SPAY/NEUTERED.

I also have done work at the sex-worker legal clinic that just opened in Pilsen and the dozens of us will not be supporting candidates that stigmatize those in the sex industry and who believe in our criminalization and incarceration. Do you think we should be criminalized? If not then why are you using this?

I also don;t believe Byron's campaign forms that he files. Don't be so naive. Just because Byron, himself, puts down where he gets his contributions doesn't change the fact that his campaign person has accepted money from metal shredders. That whistle blowers in his organization have left because of these shady deals. The people in this community are more concerned about "community organizers" who whore themselves out to the highest paying corporate shill than they are about a non-violent arrest that occurred two decades ago. Disgusting

It is criminal that the city treats handicapped seniors like this. I am voting for Fioretti, it's time for a change.
